Bill,
To be catching sun fish as big as large mouth bass is
unbelievable! I live about 50 miles south of Lake Erie
in Ohio. I have fished plenty for walleye and perch
but to catch sun fish, the size you are talking, just
blows me away.
I hope you catch the record breaker, it would be Awesome.
Thank you for sharing this amazing story.
Peace,
Richie

Love the title. Your competitive spirt comes through. I'm that way myself.
one of my neighbors said, "Aww, Bill, put 'em back in the pond and let 'em grow up." --ouch! That had to hurt, but it is funny and a nice addition to the story.

Love your fishing story. I have a Grandson that would rather fish than eat. If fishing is in your blood it won't ever leave. Great job and have a good night. Shirley

A Dream, A Fish, A Prayer! is an excellent entry for a true story on fishing. Keep on keeping on and you will catch a fish bigger than Joey's. Dreams do come true.

Your contest entry is EXCEPTIONAL, Commando! I loved reading it. I felt as if I were there fishing alongside of you. You used great, descriptive words/phrases to put readers right there in the boat on Merritts Mill Pond--mosquitoes and all.
The art choice is a perfect accompaniment to your well-thought out entry. The title is intriguing. You did an EXCELLENT job explaining the three words--Dream, Fish, and Prayer. The addition of dialogue, such as what your neighbor spoke, adds great interest to your story. The thoughts whispered to yourself ground your story well. Those thoughts make readers realize your intentions, your goals, and the fact that your dream may or may not happen; but, you never give up. This is seen in the last paragraph where you speak to readers about giving up and use one of your unique words--"Betcha". Your perseverance shows your love of fishing and your faith in miracles from God.
Your author notes are super and very informative. The art choice, the story, and the notes all work together to create an excellent entry. Thanks for sharing and best wishes for a win.
Respectfully with Love and Admiration,
Laura Jan

Hello Bill,
It's a lovely piece of Sports Non-Fiction as A True Story, meeting the required parameters, having lucid phraseology, CAPTIVATING flow throughout from the beginning to the end, and TRANSPARENTLY depicting its theme.
These lines are particularly noteworthy:
"Of course, my goal was to catch a whopper for the Guinness World Record Book."
"Hurrah," I yelled! I was happy to have caught it; yet, I was sad because it was smaller than Joey's."
Hey, Commando! Here lies the crux: You still have a deep rooted will to achieve your target; such a 'will' is called the WILL of God, and God's will can never be wrong. Hence, keep on trying, the desired SUCCESS is waiting for you.
BEST OF LUCK here, and also in the contest!

You have caught almost all types of animals. This story meets the requirements for the contest. It has a chance of winning the contest. Excellent work! Good luck in the contest!

We have lodging near the Mississippi River so we see lots of fishing. They also have a float landing where they pick up interested fishermen or fisherwomen that would love to fish. To be out on the open waters fishing or boating makes excitement for many people. Like your fishing story!

I enjoyed reading your contest entry. As a mother of a fisherman. My oldest is an avid fisherman. He's active duty, but has another deployment facing him in the fall, and then he retires after 24 years. I asked what he's going to do. He said, "Go fishing." I am sure he's right. Good luck.

cute story, Bill, and good for you. The fun of a challenge. Never say die, and all that positive stuff! Nothing like good old enthusiasm. I was surprised at how much your choice of type added to the story, and the picture. All of it as a whole, very enjoyable and attractive.
