I love this metaphore: Each day that dawns is but the thief of dreams,
It's quantum baby, pure quantum.
Who are the moths?
I like a good poet poem, always takes me back to my favourite:
Lonely as a clown, in clouds of smoke
nothing makes sense, not even moths.
Just making fun of wordsworth.
so today I gave a six to two of my favourite poets.
what a delightful pleasure.
Your night and dream beautiful. :-))Z.

Splendid sonnet, Tony. You have done some poetic weaving here yourself, inserting familiar words from Coleridge's masterpiece - I hope you weren't as high as he was when you wrote this - and that you weren't rudely interrupted as he apparently was.
I also liked the sustained imagery of weaving/patchwork - can't be pedantic enough to say that those are mixed metaphors!
I think that poems which deal in any way with the art of writing often do well in contests, so you should have a great chance with this - I haven's seen one better yet - except my own, of course!
Good luck.
Steve

Thanks, Steve, for your good luck wishes, the six stars, and the unravelling of my mixed metaphors. As long as those aren't picked up by the contest committee, I'm hoping to give you a good run for your money. Unrequited love is the general run of the mill. Your sonnet about requited and regretted love is a nice change. Good luck to you, too.

What an eye-catching artwork and splendid sonnet! I especially admired your "thief of dreams" and "quilt" metaphors along with your rhymes. Keep weaving a "patchwork" of dreams! Best wishes in the competition- Joan

Gorgerous artwork choice. The colors were very appealing. And you wrote some beautiful visual imageries in here. An abundant of nice alliterations too. Everything naturally weaved itself together nicely. Great work :)

The tapestry is an excellent metaphor for the poet and how he weaves ideas from threads he rescues from his dreams. Love the tribute to the fantasy worlds of Kabila Khan and Xanadu that your unweave into your tapestry.
You should do well in the contest with this beautiful sonnet.

Hello Tfacus,
I pray all is well with your. I love the tapestry artwork you chose to reflect your Sonnet poem message. All I know about Kubla Khan is he was a Mongolian warrior who conquered China. The Thief of Dreams is an interest poem of trying to remember lost dreams. It happens to me all the time that I can't remember beautiful dreams when I awake. Enjoyable read. Good job, Tfacus. You have a unique way of placing a strong message into a expressional words. Well-done. Happy writing:-)

Very many thanks for your review, Joyce, and for your kind words. Much appreciated. My references to Kubla Khan were to the poem by S T Coleridge, a poem in which he tried to recapture a dream sequence. All good wishes, Tony

This is a beautifully worded sonnet. The artwork is an amazing accompaniment to the work. Several lines struck me as being written is such an artful fashion as to be reminiscent of the poets of old. "A patchwork made of fragments from their brains." - Just lovely. Good luck in the contest.

Your sonnet is skillfully and creatively composed and vividly descriptive.
It conveys a powerful message about honing the ability to take pieces and build or rebuild, be it kingdom or poetry.

Your poem describes my dreams so perfectly. The moment I open my eyes my dreams start to fade and by the time I reach the kitchen they're gone. Knowing I had a dream but can't quite recall what it was. Your poem is very well-written, relatable. Your great word choice description paints a vivid picture in the reader's mind. Your artwork is beautiful.
