Fine-Tuning Your Kindle For PC
How to Get More From the Books You Read36 total reviews

This piece is a great way to lull non-technical people (me) into reading a technical article almost to the end. I skimmed the rest of it past Basic Three-Notes. My mind was swirling with the technical minutia which is my non-technical brain giving me the "engine light" warning. This was what I appreciated about this piece. The graphics, arrows to clarify and text were all laid out in a logical flow for a complex subject. My ADHD brain loves a "good scroll and find" visual layout. The friendly introduction and prose among the necessary instructions make me feel like a cool uncle came over to set up my computer and kindle. Regretfully I will have to do it myself but now I have the confidence to do it and a friendly resource as support. Great job.

I hope you get it done and love the mechanism as much as this non-techy does, Lola. And really! I am technically inept!

Ah, yes, that gorgeous quote you end your reviews with. It's sure as hell hard to get to that space without the words getting in the way.

This is absolutely amazing and I'm going to keep this one! It is obvious you have spent much time and much work on this. And it shows. There is only one thing to be done about this. Actually, 2. 1 is bookmark it on my bookcase. And the other is well, I'll let it be a surprise. I hope your day is great.!

Thank you, Lea, so much for your encouraging and thoughtful review. And for your six lovely stars. I'm happy you found it worthwhile enough to want to review it later. As to the surprise, I do hope you're a member of the Pulitzer committee. But if it's what I think it is, I thank you for the honor and hope I don't disappoint you with my future contributions. You rock!

I used to read and take notes and discovered that I never looked at the notes again. Maybe, in a few cases, the idea was stuck in my mind. Now I read for pleasure, for the great turn of a phrase, the brilliant idea, the way a writer solves what seems to be an unsolvable problem or FAILS to pull it off. This is a good article for a lot of the younger writers to realize there is treasure in every book.

I'm guilty of the same thing, Carol. I suspect we all are. Getting more out of what we read may be more for the younger writer. You're still reading with a purpose. And that's a good thing! Thank you for including this article as one of your reads.

Thank you for these instructions. I don't have a Kindle and my computer is so old that when I download books it won't allow me to read them. It has something to do with my adobe. It's old and my computer won't accept and upgrade, same with Microsoft word. I'm getting a new computer, once my son comes to visit and helps me get my cherished photos off. It won't allow me to download them to a thumbstick. Yes, I know I have issues. LOL

Once your son gets your new computer up and running, do download your Kindle on PC. It's truly a marvelous learning tool.

Jay, what a great gift you've given us. I've had Kindle on my phone and I-Pad for a long time, and some of the features you mentioned I've explored. I love it, but you've added a whole lot to my toolkit. It sort of gives us another focus while reading.
Thanks for sharing these tips. I plan to explore them further.
Take care,
Rhonda

Thank you, Rhonda for your encouragement and kind words. Once you see its value, you'll wonder why you didn't use it all along. Thanks for reading.
