I must have missed the previous chapter. This is packed with so much information, it made it easy to understand what's been going on. Regarding a longer post, when something's this interesting it's no chore to read it.

Thank you for the encouragement. I appreciate it.

This excellent chapter fills in some of the gaps from the previous so we discover how the adoption details leaked out and get more understanding of the impact of all these events on Emma, as well as Seth. It was very satisfying to hear Seth taking a firm hand with Peggy and this development gave the story great momentum. There were no errors noted and I enjoyed this consolidating read. Thanks for sharing, Barbara, Debbie

I always love reading this story. I think it is hilarious that Seth had Peggy arrested. She has a lot of gall and seems to think she can move in with Seth whether he likes it or not. Surely sitting in a jail cell should get the message across. Emma feel unworthy because of the she was born to prostitute on drugs and now she has killed a man. This is lot for someone as delicate and sensitive as Emma. Hopefully Seth has convinced her it makes no defence to him.

Wonderful chapter, Barbara. This one explained a lot about Emma's past and cleared up a few of the mysteries. Hopefully she'll be rid of that nuisance, Peggy Barton, who got what was coming to her, and now there won't be any more misunderstandings about her relationship to Seth. It's very clear now to Emma, if it wasn't already, that Seth can't stand the woman.
Pretty soon now, it feels like she and Seth will begin to realize they are in love with each other and won't be able to deny the feelings any longer. I'm waiting for that chapter with bated breath! - Jim

Seth and Emma will realize they're in a relationship very soon, but the words of love won't be spoke for a little while, yet. LOL Thank you for the kind review.

Despite all the action surrounding this story, the love grows and the bonds form and they are strong when facing tragedies together. And now Peggy is in jail, I think you have included just about everything in this story Barbara and we cannot complain that there has not been variety, another fine chapter, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

Thank you for the encouragement. I like to add a little more than just romance.

I remember that song but couldn't recall who I'd heard sing it. Jake is very dependable, and he seems to know how Seth's mind operates. Emma needs to get over doubting everything. I don't know why they insist on calling Peggy Ms. Barton. She certainly doesn't deserve the respect. What she's done is terrible, but I don't know if it's something she should be jailed for. Maybe the arrest will finally cause her ridiculous stalking of Seth to sink in, however. Emma was fortunate she was adopted so soon, so she didn't have to experience living with her mother. I don't know why she's so down on herself. Susan and Keith have been wonderful parents to her, although they should have been the ones to tell her about being adopted. Now that they know who's been causing all the problems for Emma, maybe they can stop treating her like a child. Great dialogue. Peggy really comes across as completely reprehensible. She'll do anything to get what she wants, and doesn't
pay any attention when Seth keeps telling her he isn't interested. Lots of conflict in this chapter. judi

There will be a little more conflict in the following post, before things settle down for a bit. Thank you for the kind review.

My daughter adopted a set of twin boys at birth. They were drug babies. Now they are 14 and yes they have plenty issues. Medication from a year old now counseling often they have no friends and schoolteachers refuse to teach them. They home school because they a hard to get along with people. Smart mouth, and not friendly. My grandkids shunt them because of it. However, she and her husband take them to church in hope of a miracle. They have not been told they are adopted yet. My son-in law buys them everything from cross country motor bikes to horses, you name it. As I told my kids , you cannot buy love.
Anxious to see what you do with this story. Sending blessings.

Thank you for sharing this story with me. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but just because they're crack babies doesn't mean they are automatically doomed.

My daughter acted and adopted them in obedience. God will see them through. We have faith toward that subject.

I think this is well written, good sentence structure, editing, and pacing of dialogue. I would caution about including things that do not advance the story, or your plot, or makes no difference to the characters.
notes:
"Understood." Carl whispered, "Seth, you've scared the daylights out of Emma."
- This is strange: Emma's been held hostage by robbers, run off the road by drunks, stalked, home invaded, hospitalized, and just killed a man without a pause. How can anything scare her now?

Thank you for the kind review. I try not to add extra stuff, unless it will be used at a later date in the story or cement a personality or relationship.

Really good chapter, Barb. I also enjoyed the video. The Judds are one of my favorite duos. You surprised me by throwing Peggy Barton in jail, but Emma should now know Seth's true feelings about Peggy.

I'm sure I'll get some backlash on Peggy being in jail. I just felt she needed to be there for a while. LOL Thank you for the kind review.
