OMGosh, I am trembling from the chills this line gave me....You chose to shoot that poison......
Then you wrote this line.... and I tried, denied, I cried.... And at that moment I was crying myself. I had to take a break until I was able to write again.

I have read numerous poems about your sister, but OMGosh, this is by far the most beautiful and tells it as it was and still is for you. It is good to see you getting a little of your anger out too. And one more time, WOW, this is wonderful, and yet,
I hate to see you still suffering so much.

I hope you know my cheek is always here for you. I hope you ALWAYS know that. Thank you for this awesome poem, as I think it should be published and put in a medical magazine and required for all drug users to read. This really hits the target. Brilliant and Genius work, Sweetie. Loved it and you too. Debi

Oh yes, one of the hardest things to keep is the vow of faithfulness, especially
if wrongdoing has made its home in the heart of the one who can't keep a promise, that's why divorce is so high, the may not get caught by the law, betrayal can transcend the law, when the judge is sick too. Beautifully written Jessica, blessings Roy

I don't know why but this made think of a child (young or Adult child) who lost a parent to addiction. This was painful and I could feel the angst of unresolved issues. Sometimes acceptance is the hardest thing to master. Well done. Gretchen

Thank you so much, Gretchen. I see that. While this piece was inspired by my sister, who lost her battle with addiction, I aimed to leave it as open as possible to interpretation regarding a few relationships. Thank you! xoxo

Such a gut-wrenching piece highlighting the pain of losing a child to addiction! Every parent's nightmare. The best of intentions never get fulfilled when they can't make snd stick to the right choice. Always running and never getting there.

This poem delivers a tremendous amount of heartfelt meaning. It tells a devastating story of the betrayal of a loved one that could have been a spouse, lover, partner or parent. Your well chosen words are filled with emotion and sincerity, and your chosen artwork intensifies your message. Best wishes in the contest.

Betrayal comes in all shapes and sizes. This is contest entry is about an addiction betrayal. Yes, an addict does most often betray us. I could feel the emotion of this situation. Good luck with the contest.
