Having raised a son and watch three grandson grow up, I appreciated your story of Greg. The escapades and creative nature of our children is a blessing and a curse but always an adventure.

Fun read.
Blessings

That's very funny, Barbara. What a creative solution Greg came up with for quickly getting to the back of the house. Perfectly logical. I think you handled it just right, though. I'll bet you kid him about that to this day.

I also have a son named Greg who just turned 40. He too is a wonderful man and a good father to my two grandsons. Must be the name.

I like how you set up your time secrets. You're using points that many of the readers will identify with. Good description. OMG "My voice elevated, "Not bringing it through the house." a nice summary for the whole scenario. "Greg did grow up to be a very wonderful man. He was the oldest and one of my more peaceful boys. He enlisted in the Army right out of high school and did 26 years active Army before he retired. He's married. He and his wife, Nicole, have a 12-year-old daughter, Kinley. They live in Florida

I have three grandsons and I can see this happening. I got a belly laugh out of this escapade. I don't believe I ever did anything this exceptional when I was young but I have a short memory.

Yes, both my girls were easy to parent, and as adults, I don't really know better wives and mothers, but then their mother is beyond rubies as scripture says, this is something I can relate to, beautifully written Barbara, blessings Roy

Hi Barb,
Greg was a pretty typical teenage boy. He had better things to do than water flowers around the house, and he was letting you know it. Unfortunately, he was only hurting his chances of playing basketball by spilling water all through the house. I hope you didn't have nice oak floors.
When I was a teenager, one day my mother told me I had to watch my younger brother. I was probably 15, and he was 5. My buddy, Jim, came over, and we were talking in the yard near the cellar door. I called my mother an "old bag", not knowing she was right around the corner and heard me. She told my father, and I got a beating when he arrived home. I didn't know what "bag" meant. I had no idea at all, but I had heard my friend call his mother the "old bag" lots of times. I never forgot that though it happened about 60 years ago.
Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you for understanding. Oh my!!! Thank you for sharing your story. You just reminded of another story, when I told my boys to watch Steven, he was a baby at the time and they used him as a football. I'll have to write it too.

Please thank Greg for his service! Thanks for sharing this -now funny- little episode of a teenager. If that's the worst grief he gave you, he's simply angelic!
You probably fixed:
"I'm watering the flowers water out back." (remove 'water')

Yes, I have corrected that extra word. Greg was a great son. He was pretty easy to parent, normally. Thank you for the understanding.

Sons are great aren't they? Never quite able to focus on the job in hand but quick to come up with a good excuse. I enjoyed your story about Greg and will look forward to reading about the wild one:)) Take care Debbie

We all went trough this phase of life, leaving childhood to becoming a responsible adult. A period of doubt, a chance to express yourself to your parents, expecting them to listen and agree with you. Having to deal with the opposite sex and especially for boys wanting to do things with and to them, wanting them to do things to you. Girls frightened you, especially when they were in a tight circle of their friends, enjoying seeing how clumsy you were when around them. They literally ruled many insecure teenage boys. Parents should be considerate of the stress involved and dictating how their sons are dealing with becoming a responsible man. Just imagine the time in past history when a boy was taken blindfolded and lead in line with other boys, your friends, deep into caves probably given some form of a hallucinogen (Google the plant extract ibogaine) and taken deep into a cave deep in the ground. Then torches brought to life, hoods ripped off and seeing the large cave paintings on the walls. This the rights of manhood thrown at you, time to grow up, you are a man now, time to act as one.

This is the sort of logic a teen age son would have. I can see my son doing something like that. They do grow up eventually. This is funny. I wonder if he actually believed he was going to get away with that.
