Bravo! Applause! This is an outstanding write! So well conceived and thought out. It is also nicely ttimed and rhymed without any spag issues or flaws. I am impressed with your Wisdom with words, wonderfully penned. Tone and pace are suiting the theme.

"Life's cards face down, flipped over, revealed
Truth's bright inner core, kept buried, concealed
Integrity, courage, lit up tunnel's end
This 'me' etched in light became my best friend"

Excellent closing.

Stunning artwork and apt color choice to highlight it make this an all around exquisite presentation.

Warm regards,
rama devi

I swear you just keep getting better and better. ~Fantastic poem. The flow, the rhyme, the structure, everything is just perfect. Gives your reasons in perfect wording, with great analogys, "cards face down, flipped over revealed". This is the winner without a doubt. Can't imagine anyone topping this. A pleasure to read. Ah Joyce, you having said what you said means it's won anyway, regardless of how the voting goes. Don't forget what I said: any improvement my stuff may show is due to those who pointed out my lacks and weaknesses early on, you being one of them. A pleasure, to be sure, getting this review from you my friend xoxoxoxoxoxo

I like your contest entry and wish you well as I believe it will be a contender. You built a very meaningful poem from the prescribed first line. Nicely done.

A well written ode to autumn. This just sings along like a fallen leaf. Brought back a lot of memories of childhood leaf piles. The rhymes and structure are very good and kept me reading to the end.

Hi, Chris.
'While layers of my old facade were peeled' - very good!!

Excellent content and rhyme, with a powerful and ironic couplet to finish. Well done and good luck. Best wishes, ray xx

This is a highly descriptive and very accomplished piece of work. The images you conjure are marvellous, particularly this ...'With joyful abandon, I built a huge pile
Compiled of years of cold sorrow and trial'. Love it!

Wow! Again!! I so agree with this poem and I can identify. My fathers family are full of rich... not nice people.. lol. You always do good and you're always a delight to read. I will definitely check back with you and read more when posted. Between you and me, you're the best writer on here. =D

Don't know about the 'best' my friend; there are those on here who write with such style they make it look easy. But I'll take your kind compliments and keep them close to my poor little heart when it gets sad... Thanks so much for brightening up my day! xoxoxoxoxo

good presentation; well written; especially liked this:

"
Those last words felt like a harsh, sharp slap
Yet they were the key unlocking this trap
No longer could I keep the peace, or accept
Their need for control, which kept me inept "

Best wishes in the voting booth!

Thanks so much astrolite for an excellent review and your good luck wishes! Always, the voting booth decides, so as I always say: the best work wins (if it happens to be mine, then I'll pull out my humble pie and say a BIG thanks!). Again, thanks so much for your kind and uplifting words xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
