Hi deepwater,
An excellent poem, with a good subject. Friends are many, but the real friends are rarer. Lovely photo of the dog. Now there's a real friend ...

I know for a fact that if I had a dog such as the featured there I would sleep securely. Just knowing that he was standing by would help me make it through the night without care. What a wonderful tribute to a faithful and loyal friend.

thank you for your voice. a friend is as commodity, and people should be aware of the attributes that make up a friend. most people i know have very loose definition of a friend.

I have a habit of quickly scrolling past the picture, as my first test of poetry
is does it work without a supporting picture. (Then when done I'll scroll back to the picture :-)
As a testament to the extraordinary value of a true and loyal friend, I understand the intent of this poem. Though grammatically a little shaking (in terms of line comprehension) the depth of feeling comes through. Except by the reference of the picture though, I do not see the dog in it :-(
Overall, I liked the content, but found the craftsmanship a little distracting.

There is a lot of deep meaning in this work. The fact that it applies to us all, that friendship factor and what it's worth, makes this poem important for all those who know that great sense of trust.

At first the picture attracted me to know the poem, but then as I learned how you tied the soldier and sense of pride and duty into it with the rhythm and beat it all felt like thos foot steps of duty and work. I like how you tied in the sailor on the sea with the artist on the street. We are all one blood and one nation.

I read the poem and found the meaning of free, pride and responsibility, a dog can and such inspire. These qualities so man must put himself up and bring all that he has with him, give your best, expect better.

I really like the reference to a true friend and the way he makes you feel so confident. My husband speaks often of how important a strong friend is, one who will really stand with you. Your poetry makes this real. Good wishes, Jeanie Mercer

Hi GW,
This is another beautifully written poem. You sure are good at writing them and I've enjoyed every one I've read so far. I also look forward to reading more of them. Did I tell you, that your smile is beautiful. I meant to the first time I looked at your picture.

Good description that paints a clear picture in my mind and allow me to feel the impact of the world written. Good alliteration. I see nothing that I would add, change or take out of this piece.
