What a discovery Jimi, nice of her to point you in the right direction, this is as always... Flawless! and so intriguing friend, I bet you sat for hours placing each piece of the puzzle together and I bet you had a big smile on your face while the discovery unfurled in your mind. I loved it, what a cool lady she was. Hitch

Hello jlsavell.
If I had a six left it would be yours. I wish we got more of those. You are my final review for today, and what an exceptional work! I relate especially, because I have a letter to my grandmother, but it was from my grandfather. This is written with such beauty and grace, and it is full of emotion and a haunting sadness. BRAVO.
Fondly, Rebecca

"And in this room upon her bed, empty now
Only haunting voices of her laughter
The faint smell of lavender lingers
Mingled with a musky sent of written memoir" How marvelous.
I have a bundle of postcards written back and forth between my husband's grandparents during WWII. excellent Jimi, and written in such a familiar, loving way.

Jsavell, this is a poem that movies are made from. What a lovely tribute to your loving grandmother and her secrets so well kept hidden and tucked into her heart. Very nice. I agree that the art by Hotshot is a perfect touch.

gramalot8, thank you once again for stopping by. Yes I can see a movie made of my grandmothers life, She was a beautiful soul. I wish she had confided in me about this Edwin. I do not know what happened to him, the postcards seem to have stopped abruptly, for the last one he had asked for her hand in marriage. Obviously that did not happen for hse married my grandfather. I feel he might have gotten killed in the war...again thank you...jlsavell

Very good. Your poem tells a great story of grandmother,
Emma and how much you loved her. I like the line:
Postcards in the drawer, the musky drawer and how it is
repeated throughout the poem.

What a gorgeous poem you've written. Your poem tells a wonderful story. Cleaver use of alliteration throughout your poem. Exquisite art work and presentation. Excellent narrative, vivid imagery , very detailed and descriptive writing. I enjoyed the lines:
Postcards in the drawer, the musky drawer
Aged and frayed with the scent of old oak
Bundled neatly by a red ribbon
These postcards in the drawer, grandma's drawer
Absconding with gentle loving care
Placed upon her bed, my grandma's life
Those postcards in the drawer, secrets kept
Treasured by this woman, of that I'm sure
So many declarations, so many desires
Longing, waiting to embrace you
Emma, to embrace Emma
A young woman with immense grace
And who is this Edwin, my dear Emma?
This man, his words written on postcards
Tucked away carefully in the musky drawer
So very many stored gently in the old oak drawer
All from postcards in a drawer, a musky oak drawer;
that mingles with lavender, the scent of your spirit
I gently bundle them with your red ribbon
and place them gently, lovingly in my drawer
Postcards in my musky old oak drawer
Your writing is marvelous in this poem that tells a lovely story about your grandmother. You have a truly talented pen and I enjoy reading your poetry. . .Melissa.

An exceptional writing here on this poem about finding old postcards in her grandmother's drawer after her death. A very nice picture is chosen for this too.
