Great atmosphere and mood here Susan -- your descriptions serve as another character in your story. Excellent construction too -- with a fine mix of complete sentences and fragments. You understand Charley and the hands he rode beside, and use great jargon with true west flavor to mold them. Your final sentence is perfect. D

This is another really good job of writing a short story. Your descriptions are vivid and you tell the entire story in very few words. I swear you are the queen of short stories.

A well written cowboy story. Nice to see a cowboy go out with his hair, no arrows or bullet holes in him. No rain, sounds like the perfect death

Sigh, this is what writing is supposed to be about. Making you reader feel he is a part of the story and becoming tearful as he realizes he is not. It was absolutely wonderful.

I really loved the imagery in your story. I never realized that when you had sunset in the title you were talking about the usnset of a man's life. Nicely done. When you talked about the coyote singing or the song of the coyote I could hear it in my mind. That is nicely done, too. Just a great, great story. Even the Western dialect didn't get in the way. Keep up the great work.

Hi - Susan - I should have waited until tomorrow to read this when I get restocked with sixes. Loved the narrative that painted such beautiful images. You are gifted! Bill
