WOW!! Point well written and point taken. Excellent writing form, smooth and fast, very fast. You covered every reason I elected to jump on board just a few short months ago, I have never been disappointed with the quality of reads and comments from other artists who have elevated my writing experience. A very well done piece that deserves a winning score in this contest and be used as an advertisement for FanStory.

When I came to Fanstory I really had a lot to learn about writing. IN the two year here, my writing increased by leaps and bounds. I just signed a publishing contract for White River Calling, which is quite exciting. I agree with you on people. I don't have many friends, but value the ones I do have. This is well done. Good luck.
Have a great day.
Christelle.

yearning for approval ... yearn for constructive criticism and you may improve. yearn for approval and you will miss the constructive criticism if and when it arrives.
see how much real dollars these services cost ... there are more folks milking would-be-published writes than there are published writers.
Your essay rings only of partial truth. But your prose is satisfactory.

Great post, Mikey. I especially like the following line although the whole essay is excellent:
"In other words, I can talk to my friends here and they really are friends. No other site has that dynamic. Yes, I have looked and looked long and hard."
Sometimes for me I find that difficult... Yet, I agree. There are a lot of people I've made friends with here and they are mostly patient with me when I'm off on one as we say in the UK. I hope you're doing well and this is a great essay. Best wishes, Pete.

Bravo! You speak for me, Mikey. Now I don't have to write one. You've said all that I think and feel. The only thing that's lacking here is a decent programmer who knows what he/she is doing. Tom should have hired one two years ago when began "fixing" the site by removing and destroying features I miss (such as INDENT on poetry posts). Every improvement he makes just creates two worse problems. Sigh. If I leave, that will be why. I'd miss the friends I have here tho and the chance to improve my own writing. So I keep paying and make the best of the horrible technical aspects. People more than make up for that. :)

Nicely written; good luck in the contest. Love the ending; message rings out loud and clear. Nice progression, rhythm and flow as well as clever use of wording. God Bless, Deb
