Good look at what those headstones mean - and it's super hard to look and think of the horror those military members felt during the heat of battle. We listened to one account of a Korean failed assault. Horrifying.

Hello Commando. The I like your homage to veterans past and present. I am reminded of a quote concerning veterans that I heard after I left the service. "All gave some, but some gave all." Good luck in the contest.

On November 11th, it is Armistice Day, in Canada and so your poem relates in my heart. The U.S. has more than paid their fair share of dead Veterans and honestly I think in a lot of hearts we are saying "Enough."

As well as a beautiful tribute, I very much appreciate the Author's Note you've included beneath your poem, Commando. I come from a military family and know that our troops are not given enough credit by the general public who enjoy the benefits freedom brings. All veterans deserve more understanding and appreciation! Thank you for sharing your story.

Great job with this salute to all veterans. Thanks to you and every veteran who has ever served or is currently serving. I guess the couple of times you rhymed in lines is acceptable since it's not a pattern throughout the poem. I enjoyed reading this poem to commemorate all veterans.

Ho commando.
I salute any soldier who has fought for their country. Without their efforts most if us wouldn't be here today. I wonder what they would make of us today with so many wars around the world. This was a very sad read because it does remind us of all those fine young men who gave everything for us.
I salute you Sir, for your contribution to our cause.
