Gotta love it when a poem writes itself a children's book, Willie - and yours seems to have done it, sir! :) Find a fun illustrator (or use some kids) and this would be a great little book for little hands! :) :) Thanx for the smile of 'Slo Jo'! ;) :) Yvette

What a lovely poem! This should be in all school curriculum as required reading especially in elementary and Junior High. The moral of this story will not be forgotten!

Fun poem that pays tribute to a horse that wanted to race in spite of being a ranch horse in speed. I kind of think there was an inadvertent slip on punctuation here:
That ol" horse could turn on a dime.
and give back some change.
I think you meant to keep a dialect going and still have a complete sentence, so maybe try:
That ole horse could turn on a dime
and give back some change.

The ol' is cowboy language, used in most western writings. But I did
change the ol" to ol' thanks much for catching my bobo. Thank you
for your review and stars.

I like this poem, Willie. The story reminds me of so many people that I've met in my life that are squares trying to fit in round holes. Slo Jo is a metaphor for such a wide variety of people. Well done. :)Ralf

This is a cute story in a poem about a slow horse with a big heart. It reminded me a bit of the fable about the turtle who wins the race. Sometimes the good hearted plodders win in the end, when the fast talkers are brought down by their own speed.

This applies to more than horses, doesn't it?! We don't all have to be alike to be useful and meaningful in the area where we are gifted. in fact, it's a good thing we;re not.
