Such a moving piece. This is a vivid illustration of loss. Although in the first read we assume that the narrator's loss is the result of an estrangement in the relationship -the surprising realization that this sorrow is a loss based on death only serves to emphasize the message - love and relationships should never be taken for granted. This is an exceptionally moving piece.

I liked your poem's message of healing grief; one can never bring back the loved one lost nor close the gap until one lets go completly and then, and only then can you step forward to a new beginning and celebrate life. Well done my friend.

This is a very sad and heartfelt poem describing a step along the path of grief. Written very well in rhyme and beautiful verse. I've traveled a similar road so this poem really struck my heart, I can easily relate. After almost four years now the grief is finally relenting as a new life emerges. But you will always have a special place in your heart and the grief will return to visit. All the best to you on a wonderful healing write. Warren

Warren Rogers, once again thank you so very much for such a wonderful review. I apologize for just responding. I am aware of your loss and the deep love you have for your wife. Your poetry spills forth such beauty here in the halls of fanstory. Although this is true, it has been many many years back. As I told one reviewer, the pain never really lessens with time, perhaps it just softens and the emotions and tears that fall are gentle on wonderful never forgotten memories and not so much of unfathomable grief. again thank you so very much for your wonderful review and kind comments..jlsavell

I can't imagine having to experience this. I have to feel bad for those that do. Belief that we'll eventually see our lost loved ones again is what get's most people through, though I imagine that can still feel terribly lonely. Nicely done on this!

I loved the whole presentation and the picture of the roses. Grieving is such a personal process. We all take the steps individualy and uniquely. You expressed yours with great feeling and very eloquently.

Your quatrains have smooth flow and strong ABAB rhyming
the refrain prayer to God in italics works compellingly
How poignant as the speaker imagines she hears this man's robust laughter and then remembers that final goodbye - and then to have her put the rose on his grave at the end, that just blew me away. Brooke

This is an absolutely beautiful poem. The emotion was well described and felt by the reader. Poems that are so well written hard for me to write reviews for. I know what to do when there's something wrong.
