Yikes, Dean, you've done it again! You've woven a tale of horror and disgust that I couldn't stop reading until I got to the bloody end.
I especially like the imagery in the third stanza.
Your rhyming is nicely done, both internal and external, and your alliteration makes for an excellent flow of words. Thanks for the "pleasant screams!" I gladly give you one of my sixes. Good luck in the contest. Alana

I think I am scarred for life! lol! This was very disturbing and I can't believe I actually made it through the entire poem. I think i was fascinated and grossed out at the same time...........
I'm like who thinks like this? Who has a mind like this? Oh I know, great writers :) Dean Kontz and Stephen King and RL Stine I image......
I was so disturbed, I can only reward you with a 6
Thanks for scaring me and possibly giving me nightmares later. Wimps like me should never read things like this, lol

Wow! This is not only well written but the added details of inserted pics even bring this story more to life. To maintain such perfect rhyme and meter and tell the story so well I can't imagine you could lose. Very well done! I'm impressed.

You have managed to tell this frightening story with the most amazing rhyme pattern... an abundance of internal rhyme as well as end rhyme, making this flow in a most bubbling way. I feel like I'm rushing downstream in a swollen river, bouncing over rocks of rhyme at an amazing pace. It is truly fun to read something like this, yet horrifying at the same time. You make such a good point in the end, corroborated by your author notes... about man attempting to play God's role. I am an admiring reader and never-disappointed fan of your writing. This was so well done.

Good grief Dean - truly you scare the hell out of me, eh - I mean your writing.:)
This has without a doubt the wildest hit of screams, insanity, all the dark glorious scary stuff I stay well away from. It's broad day light and I am sure I'll be checking over my shoulder for a while.
Your expressive imagery really has such a deep impact on me. You push the boundaries continually bringing forth more to have me silently screaming in my head. I am of course not the best reviewer since I don't watch or read this type of genre - yet I can still see it is well penned and pulls the reader in almost of its own accord.
Your author notes I enjoyed too. Lots to ponder with them. Man of course will continue to advance and bleed the soul.....
This work is fabulous, even though it scared me silly.
Thanks for sharing your screams.

'~I,Man~, is a exceptionally well-written and spine-chilling piece. This talented poet's work reminded me both of Faust, and the red-eyed horned Devil. Reviewing this work was a dubious pleasure. Sulphur fumes rise from the keys as I type this.

Hi Dean, a nicely described story/poem in the old fashioned Frankenstein style. Scarey indeed.
Pictures create a period feel, all the more scary due to the time period. And with the lightening flashing on screen.
I see in your notes that you believe that man never bodes well when playing God. This would seem to be the case in stories.
As you will know. At the present time creation of protein life is in the early stages of scientific development. This is taking place in several countries including yours. What are your feelings about that?
I ask only out of interest, because I'm writing a story about the next phase. After protein development is perfected this will of course be electronics and their use.
Good poem. :) mel.

A very original reply to the prompt here. I like your premise very much. The pictures you chose are perfect for the poem. You have good rhyme and flow with this as well.

this is very well written, dean, you did an excellent job writing this poetic tale of the dark desires of the one who wanted to possess the power of life in his hands. I enjoyed reading it
