Many more than who would like to admit it have taken this grueling journey at one point or another during their lifetimes. As the nature of life quite simply ordains its eventuality, it will happen.
Your eloquent wording and carefully chosen metaphors highlight this plight and drag it out kicking and screaming from the murky shadows, then deposit it here, in the light and upon the written page, for all of us to ponder.
Nice work here, Gary~Dean

This is a pretty dark look at the state of man. Perhaps hyperbole is employed to highlight how far down the slope we seem to have fallen, as a species. It's certainly written with commitment and angst. I just have a hard time accepting the premise of such horrific conclusions.

a very thought provoking poem about humanity, yes we are drowning in a cesspit of our own man made misery, war, starvation, rape and pillaging, just to name a few, will we survive, will we rise like the phoenix? not until terrorism can be eliminated, a great piece of free verse Gary.

from grey to black where treachery and greed perhaps take president in a downfall.
Very condensed yet very well formulated . Good alliteration and good connection between image and wording.
Well done,
best wishes,
RG

This is a very dark and sad poem. Atleast to me it was. Seems as if the reader is tormented, maybe not the reader per say. But how people can feel tormented and not know what to do.....
I love the image

This life, and or existence just maybe purgatory. Who really know the truth when it comes to matters of spiritual connections that we connect ourselves to. After all, isn't that what Karma is all about. I enjoyed reading this well written poem that has excellent vocabulary usage in its thoughts... John

This is intimidating and captivating as I read your thoughts and purgatory and wonder at the picture you paint. Is this the stuff ghosts are made of? Excellent writing.

You have captures the perils of our society in this poem. Your poem flows wonderfully and has vivid descriptions. I like the last line because you leave room for hope.

This is a powerful and most thought-provoking bit of free verse, filled with all the perils and gloom of man's earthly journey, It seems appropriate, in light of what we are hearing on the news these days, but I like the last line best, because hope for a better future is ever present in the heart of man. Good writing.
