Well, he certainly has a special, strong woman in his life. I could see his pride for her shining through in your writing although the sad situation is, even though he feels guilty, he can't help but return to the bottle. An excellent piece, Brett, thanks for sharing...Jacob

Compelling and poignant. A true reflection of self flaws owned up in humility and grace of one's ways. The power of this angel and the impacting role she plays in this power is truly powerful and a great testimony of God's love.

nice country drinkin' song. hardly original, but competent. meter is wobbly at best. rhymes are decent, though at times redundant (me/me). nice emotional impact.

Very well written. The lyrics actually read like a country western song. It speaks of a personal struggle, combined with a deep love and respect for a wife who he deeply loves & appreciates that she doesn't give up on him or their love for each other. Very strong message.

Beautifully written, though I am not a fan of country music. I wold love to hear the musical background that would accompany these words.
I do find it sad that the only answer without the wife is to hit the bottle. I am not a fan of glorifying liquor as the answer and somewhat get tired of seeing it used so heavily in lyrics. But that is reality I suppose.
Overall it is a beautiful love song.

I love Country and Western lyrics, they always tell a story. This is really good and I'd love to hear it sung. You obviously have a talent for writing songs, I am wondering if you have any published? Well done, a real pleasure to read. xsx Sandra

This is so amazingly beautiful. The country music ('am not too knowledgeable on this), as you say is classy that it takes the breath out of you. With all the frailties that you have, your wife still tolerates and loves you, you just succumb to her understanding and affection. There's no better angel in life. So poignantly written.

Constructed with utmost care to keep the partner afresh with the changing world. So brightly exposed the natural beauty that we could only enjoy the love. No such wonder beyond this world of nature.
Read by nature poets and humanitarians.

Brett: I love these lyrics! And, you didn't need to explain what they meant because the story is quite clear. I was once married to a functioning alcoholic but 16 years of it was too much for me and I needed to leave the situation for my own sanity. She may be an angel but one day she will go . . .Good writing and I can hear your song being sung by any of many great male country singers (or female) livelylinda

They are very good lyrics, with a realistic story line, I can imagine such a scenario. Your rhyming is excellent and the message is very clear. Just wondered if you ever decided to get these published, I could probably help you with the meter and rhythm. I am a proof reader and editor by profession and pride myself on 'flawless meter and rhythm' in my own poetry (quote from my reviews). Most enjoyable. Faye
