This is great, Brett, I'm positive that there are many a mother and people can relate to this. Every time, I read your lyrics I hear a little tune in my head. Really all you need is a chorus line and some music and this would top the charts.

Beautiful poem. Beautiful words. Beautiful sentiment.
Your Mom reminds me of my Mom, (who's is presently on her final bed, suffering Alzeimers). I'm glad for both you and me to have had the world's best MOTHERS.

This is a wonderful tribute to your mother. That you chose to do it is even more special. It wasn't one of those things you had to do, or someone made you do, but you wanted to.
Speaking from experience, mother's do put up with a lot, but true enough, that is one love you can always count on; it's unconditional.
Today is a double blessing for me, as it is my daughter's birthday. The most special Mother's day present I have ever had, was to hold my beautiful daughter in my arms. I thank God for her and her sister, every day. I am truly blessed as a mother.
Thank you for sharing your special tribute to your mother.
Be blessed today and always.

Thank you for your comments and support. Yes I chose to write and record this song for gift of a Mother God gave me and I would not trade anything now in return for the pleasure it gave her.

The strength of a Mother's Love has no boundaries and will always be there when needed. This is a true testament of the love most children were lucky enough to experiment.

Hi there,
What a very fitting tribute to your mother.
It is fantastic that she got to hear it before it was too late.
Many people leave things unsaid until it is too late.
Very nice rhythm and beat to it. I'll bet she was incredibly proud.
Nicely done

She was. Thanks for your comments and support. Really do appreciate them very much. Tell them what you have to say while you still have them. The next moment may be too late.

Very lovely yellow rose. A beautiful tribute to your mother. It must have been so difficult to raise kids on her own, but she did it. Money wouldn't have really mattered anyway, if you had it back then. It is your Mother's love that will always stay with you!

A heartfelt poem written in tribute to your mother-sweet sentiments, very clear you were close to her. Excellent rhyming and imagery. Couple of things: you need a pause in verse 1, line 3: .....moon, took off...... Verse 4, line 2, Retirement doesn't/won't. Enjoyable read. Faye

Oh no. Nothing about this song will ever be changed in how I wrote and recorded it. It is perfect exactly as it is. But, thanks for taking the time to read it and comment. Appreciate that very much indeed.

Hi Brett - you make it clear that your dear mother has now passed away, in poem the timing is a bit confusing. You start by talking as if she is still alive. She IS in your heart I am sure but you say 'Now your getting older and your hair has found some grey' - also 'A telephone keeps us in touch......' - There IS no other person we can turn to every day - should be, There WAS....etc. Past tense. But the whole, sincere sentiment is very moving and I enjoyed this poem tremendously. Keep writing. Warm regards Dorothyx

I first Demoed this while my Mother was still alive, thus the present tense. I posted it exactly as I originally wrote and recorded the song. Thanks for your comments and support.

Thank you Brett for the explanation. Dorothy

Hi Brett,
How fortunate you were to have such a wonderful mother. You did such a good job putting your story into these lyrics. My favorite line is: ...but we were kept in love by you. That's such an original way to express this sentiment.
Hugs,
Lou
