Hi. bhogg
This is wonderful. On my, you certainly hit that one right.
We're snivelers, aren't we. This is a beautiful eye opener. and I love the way you worded it. "please pray for these soldiers and their families,...please pray for her....please pray for them".
Well done, pat

Thanks for this story. Many of us don't realise how blessed we are.
I wrote posted to the bulletin board.
ON the bulletin board.
Instead I got love and support. After a hug and a kiss, she said, "I wonder what wonderful things God has planned for us now?"
She's wonderful. Love her positive outlook so hold on tight to her.
You don't need to pray for me though, because what I've found along the way is my faith, my family and my friends. I am blessed beyond belief!
I'm glad you managed to turn the situation around and look at it in a postive light.

Hi Helen - I'm definitely going to hold on to my wife. Having a great life partner makes everything in life easier. Thanks for reading and for your feedback!

I read your introduction and immediately was charmed by your line;
"platinum" status, it will at least achieve "laminate" status
Then you went on to really pour your heart out and take us on a journey making us look inward. Your points were powerful and delivered with such honesty and intention that the reader has nothing left to do but challenge themselves inwardly as to who they are. I am happy that your hardships have given you so much integrity in return. Well done.

Thank you for your very kind words. You know, I've never gotten back to the salary level and so-called "prestige" of that job, but I've never been happier!

Thank you for sharing this exceptional Letter to the Editor, written with your wonderful heart. The excellent title - Laminate Status - caught my attention immediately. This is really very touching! No wonder they have it laminated and hanging in the church for years. Your faith in difficult times touched deeply my heart, bhogg.
Warmest wishes,

This is a six star story but I only have five. Your writing is crisp and clear just like you are sitting in my living room telling me the story. I so agree with you when we put things into perspective, others need prayer much worse than we do at. I especially like how you tied everything together in the last paragraph. Hope you are enjoying this beautiful nc weather. ann

Hi Ann - virtual sixes are always appreciated. I'm actually in Georgia this week. I'm still working half time here in LaGrange, GA. Pretty long commute to Rocky Mount!

Your letter to the editor is well written and interesting. No wonder it has found a permanent place for the last seven years on your church bulletin board. You truly appreciated loss is also relative. There are always cases of people suffering worse things than us. We must thank God for what we have and not cry for what we do not have.

I didn't pick it apart, but loved every word. It's true that we can always find someone who has it rougher than we do, and we can be grateful for what we have. Great job.

bhogg,
This was a wonderful and encouraging read. So many are out of work now that it is frightening. As you pointed out many lessons are learned while looking for a job.
Great read. Thank you for sharing,
Elaine

Thank you so much for sharing this. I love the introduction about Laminate Status, and the letter itself delivers some powerful and moving images and messages. I was so enrapt I didn't really notice any major glaring errors. Only one nit early on: "My intent was to(,) in one..." I'd love to see the rest of this book. Cheers!

Thank you very much for the feedback. That comma is a funny one. I originally had it, looked at it, took it out, put it back... One of the other chapters of the book is "The Truth Will Set You Free". If you haven't read, you would find a bit of a departure from the letter!

Thank you so much for sharing this. It is truly necessary to keep all things in perspective although a job loss as the one you described would be a tough blow. I can understand why the church wanted to keep it posted.
I truly enjoyed reading the post,
Connie
