This poem depicts a dangerous and violent times for the world. Your words tell a story of this time, they are well written and informative. The picture is an added bonus. This is very well done. I was especially touched by the line." A prisoner of war she learned to endure
The heartaches and tyrannies of man" Thank you for sharing. -Judy

What a great ode you penned for an obviously strong woman. Your descriptive, well-chosen words painted a great picture of what it must have been like for her and how she played a part in helping others cope. The picture is a wonderful addition to your piece as well.

I really loved the art work and the words written about "Dear old Gram."The injustice carried out as a prisoner of war would not be easy and would have been cruel.
A human story
sad times and the injustice
for being a prisoner of war
as they suffered so much for freedom
for us all.

Wonderful poem, beautiful tribute to your Gram, the spelling and grammar are fine and the message is strong with a steady cadence. Very well done.

I'm pretty sure that you meant 'internment'
rather than 'interment' because the former
means 'confinement' and the latter means
'burial'. In other words, if she was toiling
while she was buried, well, that would be
rather gruesome, albeit charmingly grotesque,
in the Edgar Allen Poe sense.
I won't whine about the grammar- I give up.
Nice post! ;) fish

This is a beautiful tribute to your
grandmother - written with sincere devotion
and love shining through each line. Her strength
is admirable.
I like it beginning and ending with "Dear old Gram"
Very nicely done.

I didn't realize part of Britain was occupied by the Germans!
Liked these lines especially: A prisoner of war she learned to endure The heartaches and tyrannies of man Slaves kept on hand, injustice occupied her land
Well done!

I don't rate the poetry aspects very high in this posting, but certainly send my respects to who must have been a grand lady with many admirers celebrating her life.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Hi, deepwater. This is a wonderful dedication to "Gram" I particularly liked these lines:
"Defending the meek and supporting the weak
From the darkest of interment and toil"
Good poetry as usual...Bob
