Even in nature, old age comes, and the natural course of events erase a life.
Well written sonnet. Beautiful words and perfect rhymes make this easy to read. Your form is excellent.
Very well done, great choice of art.

I loved the metaphor of the tree that was used so consistently and well throughout this poem. It seemed like a perfect description of a strong and noble man. The sonnet form was just right for this tribute also. Everything about this struck me as exceptional. I enjoyed it very much. I always enjoy a good metaphor and a good poem in the same space. ;p MM

This is beautifully written and although about a tree one can see that this could apply to a person. A tree though can live hundreds and some thousands of years before the life is sapped out of them :(

What a great poem. You use the tree to inform us that we will all age, and one day the woodsman will come! I love the strength you attribute to the tree, it stands majestically and has dignity in your words.

A sad story- I expected it with the title and picture of the strong tree. I love how it becomes this trees' death wish- it has lived long, and now feels the axe is inevitable, and wants to give in to it. Really beautiful phrases like 'The green life coursing strong through veins unbound;.

Dear Steve,
A perfectly presented sonnet, good rhyme, great metre and an interesting subject. Good luck, but not too good.
Best regards

Oh, my I love this. Very Shakespeare-like. I read it over and over, savoring every line...thinking of times long gone - of great forests and men with strength and duty. Most excellent poem!!

Brilliant poem. I see the description of a big strong tree but i will like attribute it to a difficult life, going through trials and tribulations and seeing a light at the end. That is a personal take. I love it.

Thank you - until I added the note, not many picked this as the story of one man's life.
