What a powerful poem about the current state of our country! I like you went all in with alphabets.

You made some good points. I especially like below:
Unguarded liberty can't last,
Vigilance must be steadfast -

Is revolution a good idea for us?

I would say that your final question is a topic that could fill another day... yes? :) (wink, wink) Thanx so much, Lisa, for your review on this one, my lady!! ;) This was my first one in a while that I've actually had the time to sit and think and let the muses loose (LOL!)... glad you enjoyed! ;) Hope this finds you with a smile for the day and happiness to share: goodness knows we need MORE of both! :) ;) Take care! ;) Yvette

All elements here. Excellent entry for ABC contest. Powerful presentation on the topic of freedom in relation to the United States of America. Whether one can or cannot actually recognize freedom as it was intended to be recognized by our founding fathers and mothers against the backdrop of current events.
Certainly, the trail of this idea can also lead to the interior of the human heart and whether one can or cannot recognize freedom within, as it was intended to be recognized and known by humans in general.
Call to recognition and appreciation of liberty and the need to guard and cherish it. The encouragement to step out of the category of "yellow bellied sap sucker" and to be firm in one's determination to remain externally free.
Lovely art, wonderful coloring and style throughout.
Well done!
Lucy

I do believe, my lady, that you are one of the few to actually grasp the true meaning of YELLOW here... THANK YOU for that and for your awesome and uplifting review: you really read the words on the page for more than just text... ;) :) :) :)
I do so appreciate not only your comments but those awesome stars and what they have to say as well! :) ;) This was actually my first poem in a while that I took real time to sit and think and let the muses loose (LOL!)... just so much going on these days, ya know?! ;) Hope this finds you, Lady Lucy, with a smile for the day and happiness to share: goodness knows this world needs so much MORE of both! :) ;) Take care! ;) Yvette

Superb poem for the ABC poetry contest. Your artistic presentation is exquisite, I liked your rhyme and flow, your metaphors, visuals, imagery - all that makes this poem a joy to read. I like these lines:

Myopic crowds refuse to see
Nowhere is candor guaranteed.
Of course humanity is flawed,
Patent denial's intrinsic fraud...
Still, would you recognize it?

It was a great offering which will do very well in the contest - god luck in the booths.

This is a stunning accomplishment. It flows as if there were no letter restrictions at all and rhymes and has a melodic meter too. But what I like best about this poem is the message. You've said it all and I hope we will all be brave and strong and refuse to bow to anarchy. Thank you for this lovely reminder of what is important.

Thank you for your very deep thoughts done in rhyming abecedarian form with a provocative refrain about how we recognize what is really going on here. I hope they will stop the "xanthous" interference and get the wild sense of "liberty" under control.

One question:
Tight'ning our nation's pressure gage... (gauge? 'gage' means 'pledge.')

You are on a roll! This poem reminds me of your recent one about discerning the truth. I love your repetition of "recognize it." It's a wake-up call. The line "Revolution's not so far away" is chilling and the final stanza with "Unguarded liberty can't last,
Vigilance must be steadfast -
Watershed for red, white & blue:" should be printed on flyers! I love the artwork you chose to complement your poem.

I wrote one stanza for this acrostic contest--my first time ever to write in this form. I'm curious about what you've done in your last stanza. If you use the entire alphabet, do you NOT have to switch up the fifth line with a letter out of sequence? Not a criticism--I just want to learn.

Thanx so much, Melissa, for your review on this one, my lady!! ;) This was my first one in a while that I've actually had the time to sit and think and let the muses loose (LOL!)... glad you enjoyed! ;) Oh, and to your question: the format is such that the first four lines must be alphabetical, but the last line may or may not be (no requirement, really, on that fifth line). :) :)
Hope this finds you with a smile for the day and happiness to share: goodness knows we need MORE of both! :) ;) Take care out there and PLEASE stop by again some time - would love to have you! ;) Yvette

You did go all out and it's a very cool poem; its patriotic and contains a question I'd like an answer to. Would we all recognize freedom and truth? Is it still here with all we have going on in the country?
Best of luck...though you shouldn't need it...in the contest!
Tina

This abecedarian poem, Alphabet Ruminations, reminds me of Thomas Jefferson's words: The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.
He also said: Freedom is cool.
