If we all were innocent and trusting as children, and as tolerant, we'd be kinder and honest and better people. I bet that the world would work better. Well done.

Thanks Deepwater.... always a pleasure reading your poems. Children are always a delight. I went around a second time so I have a grown 32 year old and now I have a 15 and 8 year old. I think I am enjoying the second time around a lot more than the first. They keep me young and active.
Thanks for the beautiful sentiments and the images your poem conjures up.

The philosophy in this poem is, at the same time, very simple and very profound. I especially appreciate that this wisdom was expressed in free verse. This allowed for choices in words that would be suppressed by the restriction of rhyme and rhythm.
Very nice!

I liked your message poem; our hopes and dreams lie with the young, unfortunately, the children are growing up in a selfish and greedy world and they are becoming a law unto themselves (not all, I hope) our lives have been lived and what we have taught them (by example) is now coming home to roost. Well done, a thoughtful look at the next generation.

I received this one in my PM box. YEA!!!!!!! Childre learn so much from play and if we allow ourselves to watch with a fresh, free outlook, we will also learn from their play.

We need to teach our children the mistakes of the past, and teach them how to keep that divine innocence alive into adulthood.Let them play for as long as possible and hopefully we will leave them a fairer more tolerant and loving world to inherit from us.Our children are the future
and that really depends on us!
Well written and well done, may peace be with you...Colin.

I like your message. Hopefully our children will all grow up to embrace history and to be cognizant of the failures of the past.
I also agree they should play and enjoy their childhood. Once it's past, they can never regain those prescious moments again. - Thesis

Comment from Joan E.
You are right that we continue to make the same mistakes; maybe our children will finally learn from history. I liked the picture you attached--I assume one of your grandchildren, maybe in your wife's arms.
