This is a moving tribute to solders serving and who have fallen. Now of YOU will ever be forgotten for the ultimate price you paid for our freedom. This is so well written and glad to see somehow has honored and supported our service men and women. God Bless you all and God Bless America.

Great free verse writing here. Particularly liked the line referring to 'ancestors who walked on this world before', it had an almost ghostly , haunting mood to it, evoking an image of past fallen soldiers watching and making sure that their descendants valued the sacrifices of their forebears. Good work, keep on writing.

I respect the men and women who join the service. But I sometimes wonder if these 18 and 19 year-olds fully understand what is going on; what they are doing. I see the same mistakes I made being made by my kids when I was their age. I question 'civilize'. Since WWII we have definitely created the means of killing more in a single shot.

Deepwater, this is a terrific poem and tribute to those fallen defending for the name of liberty, freedom. It's also a strong challenge to those who remain behind so that the same mistakes are not repeated. Although free verse, it flows smoothly and the artwork provides perfect support for this piece. Only one suggestion :
for [in] the name of liberty, (delete "for")
Otherwise, very well done, my friend.

A powerful piece, and I think well written, too. I think this has a great message for all generations. I appreciate you sharing your work.

I like the old style here!
Your poem reads very smoothly considering the subject of war.
Your last line...or will we fall victim to events we ignored. Seems this is the case over and over in our world.

This poem brought a tear to my eye. Unfortuantly I don't believe that man will ever learn from the past and consequently many lives will be lost. War is such a sad event and your poem brings the reality of the soldier and his family to the reader. good job

I'm not that old, I used to be a soldier and served two combat tours in Iraq so this hit home to me. The poem is a thing of beauty, but at the same time I can feel the pain that emanates from the soul of the poem. I gladly gave myself to this country so everyone can enjoy freedom and like the poem said, I hope one day my children will understand what had to be done to preserve this peace. God bless you and take care.
