Exceptional thinking and writing. I am giving you that 6 stars virtually for this one. Some have never just sat and watched children play. I have many times and you're right, they know nothing of all the 'isms in the world. They just accept one another and play.
"And a child shall lead them.."

deepwater,
your poem is brilliantly written. Excellent narrative, great imagery and very descriptive writing. Fitting photo. I enjoyed the lines:
With age,
What's left but the children?
Their hopes, dreams and welfare,
A road forward to navigate,
No consequence to race or color,
Governments revert...... lesson.
I love your advice to learn from history. We all learn from others mistakes. Youth should revere the elderly who've been there and done that. Marvelous writing in free verse. Thought provoking free verse.

Let the Children play very true and well written. We had our time, now we can learn from evolution if we are not wrapped up in our hopes and dreams. We should mellow with age.

Your poem is stunning. You are so right, the children are our future, and hopefully, they will learn from our mistakes and evolve into a more improved society.

Reading this I am reminded of a Moody Blues song called "Eyes of a Child." My favorite lyric in the song is: "I'm going to sit and watch the web that you will weave today. Will it be a thread of love you weave? It's yours to show the way..."

I liked what you have written here but this piece just begs for more. You have just scratched the surface of thoughts in this poetic vane here. I still liked this piece of poetic art and believe it deserves a five star review. But my mind just wanted more when I was finished reading this poem... John

I thought this was a very poignant verse
I did trip over this line a bit - I wasn't sure if it should have said...
Watch your children play.
Leave then to study history? (leave > them < to study history)
Otherwise a fine piece of work.

Hi Gary, nice thought provoking piece.
LTo be honest, I found this a little hard to understand the exact meaning, but easy to read between the lines.
Nice message - Cally :)))

Good Evening deepwater
I like your philosophy; watch the children play and I believe you are saying don't worry about how old we are--
Try and enjoy life when you made this wise statement--
Learn from evolution.
Let the children play.... And watch.
Leave us our hopes and dreams,
With age.
