Hi deepwater
Good tribute to the fallen, and a sad indictment of the present generation of the "ruling classes' who fall into the same category as the people at whom Kipling's poem "Tommy Atkins" was aimed.

Your poem is heartrending and one to remind us of the sacrifices our soldiers have made. Their lives were cut short all in the name of freedom for their country. May they rest in peace knowing that their acts of bravery will never be forgotten. Great job! V.A.

This is an appropriate verse to immortalized those who have died for our freedom. We don't learn from the past mistakes of the generations before us. Their mistakes are just forgotten. I enjoyed reading your free verse. I have no suggestions that could make it any better.

A very somber warning. It's very moving having the dead speak to the living. Obviously advice doesn't usually come that way, but these brave souls understood what they were fighting for and want to make sure their legacy is maintained. This is very touching. I have one suggestion. Where you use the word RESOLUTE, I wonder if RESOLVE would be better? That way you'd have two parallel nouns:worth and resolve. Anyway, I did enjoy reading this piece.

A very interesting free verse, tribute to the fallen soldiers. They know, they hear, they are still with us, in spirit. I am sure they know you've written this poem. Great choice of words; I found this thought provoking and profound, with the fitting image.
Love it:
In time our children shall come to understand when and how our fate
was changed by the hand of mankind
only then can you measure our worth and resolute against the actions
we did indeed undertake for the name of liberty,

This is superb.
You write with a passion borne of experience, that at least is my assumption.
Moreover your writing highlights the heroism of those who have fallen defending what we enjoy, and all too often take for granted, our freedom.
I wish writings like this could become part of our education carriculums. Today's young people should know of the sacrifices our military folk undertake.
God bless you and your fellow combatants.

Very thought provoking. I especially appreciated the way you worked with this deep concept within free form poetry. I think something would be lost if you tried to put it into poetry structures that were any more confining.

This gave me a mental image of a ghostly voice whispering urgently, trying to be heard above the thunder of a new war rising. Heavy.
It applies on many levels. Today the environment is very much on my mind. The last line reminds me of something I said to someone an hour ago.
