This poem flows well and has a good message about being true to yourself and seeking inner peace. To say that we did all we wanted to in life at the end of our days is important. Thanks for sharing. Alana

So, in other words...
just live.
Yeah, I think most of us are doing that already, thanks.

NICE! well that just about sums up your aspirations, ideals and your persona I take it GW well written
I feel the water, not in too deep
This is the soul of a soldier
This is my goal, its mine to keep
For now you know; I've told ya!
Old Davey Jones's locker can wait
I not ready for that grave
And I'm not ready, for heaven's gate
I have too many more lives to save!
For I am a soldier of the sea
This battle line is mine
This will always be the life for me
give me the ocean and I'll be fine!
I run with deepwater in my veins
It flows back to my heart
If my ship were a horse, I take the reins!
Its always a great place to start
dip
Deepwater you have inspired me to write this piece about you I think I'll post it as a tribute to you!
thankyou , dip

Good work here. To stand on the edge of retirement and look at the life we made is a great and fulfilling task. The mistakes necessary to nurture the successes are well spoken in this piece. Enjoyed this thoughtful work. Later, Jim

Hi GW,
Liking oneself. For some, a most difficult task. Others, welcome the exploration. They relish alone time. Perhaps, it's being - in-between - where one can truly enjoy oneself. Less expectation, I should think.
Nicely said.
Cheers & Keep Smilin'... Jax

Each of us walk our own paths through life. The trick is to find what makes you happy and live by that. Unfortunately, it seems being miserable makes some people happy. This is very well done.

Wow! My friend, this very well written piece is beautiful. Your choice of words make it easy to read and understand what you are saying in this piece. What a wonderful outlook on like. I love it. My only suggestion is to not use Italics. It is hard for some people to read. Excellent job, my friend.
Always with respect,

The quest is what keeps us going. Once there, well... it's over. My favorite: "Only to bet your soul against the human unknown," Again, the unknown is the driving force. I believe, no matter what, it's always our choice, even if we don't like it. Yes, indeed it's writing from the heart. Well done! Les

How lucky, to have steered your own destiny. This piece doesn't have quite the impact of soul of a soldier, but was good also.
