I loved your poem and the photograph you chose to accompany it couldn't be any more appropriate. It saddens me when ever I hear about the death of our military troops and also when I see hear about all the wounded warriors and what their lives are now like.

'The Dark Of the Moon' is an exceptionally well-written and heart-wrenching piece. I and many of this talented poet's readers, will have no trouble in relating to this work. "The Last Post" is a soul tearing piece of music.

Speaking of soldiers, we salute them for their braveness, we thank them for their noble duties. Sad to think of the danger they are facing in the fulfillment of their duties to the country.
This is so beautifully written poem in the words of sadness, in concrete language, nostalgic, rendered beautifully in rhyming couplets. I enjoyed the read. Thanks for sharing.} Lin

This is a powerful message that deserves a six rating. I had two sons deploy and happily they returned home safe and sound. It is too easy to forget those who have come carried by six comrades. When will we say no to war? I think that if the ones sending our children off to war had to send their own children there would be less war. Usually it is the poor man that has to bury his own. Thanks for helping us remember.

A nicely compiled wistful, reflective poem written in rhyming couplets, that gives one a feeling of sadness and regret! This is articulately written in great expressive language, that makes one! I love this, 12 syllables per line, gives it poetic value! Blessings, Roy.

This is so beautiful and it make me feel so sad that so many soldiers have paid the ultimate sacrifice so bravely all over the world, the wording was so amazing and the poem was very haunting, the rhythm was perfect, I've read it 3 times because it stayed with me, which to me is a sign of a great writer, this was perfect , worth all the stars,

Beautiful - very emotional and quite moving.
The flow is wonderful and the rhyming is terrific - the sadness is palpable. Your choice of artwork compliments this beautifully.

This is very beautiful, very moving and just a little haunting. Commenting on the last moments before burial (assumed), the voice of the dead soldier delivers a complex and emotive last reflection. In part, he speaks to his wife/lover reflecting on the affection shared, and then moves to the final moments before his comrades in arms deliver his body to its final resting place. I love that you used the word 'deploy', to describe the dead soldier's next assignmnet. Your allusion to God shows where the soldier believes he is going, and I think this aspect of the poem adds the spiritual hope to a sad situation, and a degree of dignity to the whole proceeding. The rhythm of the poem is well established through meter and rhyme, and the tight, one verse format works wonderfully to contain this moment of life/death. Lovely work!

Beautifully written. Lovely and melancholy. My favorite line "The heart of this soldier, it's time to deploy". I've been to the funeral of a beloved soldier and it's exactly like that. Thanks so much for sharing!
