With just a few words, you painted a very vivid picture, making it easy for the reader to envision a cemetery where two strangers met to morn the loss of someone they cared about. Your story is tender, caring, and beautiful.

This one-hundred-word story, A Vietnam Veteran's Mother, has the proper word count and gives the readers a snapshot of a meaningful moment for two souls at a sacred spot.

Very succinct use of detail in so few words. I really enjoyed this, and your respect and thankfulness for the sacrifice of veterans is obvious. Good Luck in the contest!

Excellent entry for the 100 Word Story writing prompt contest. Well written and follows the contest rules. It's hard to tell a complete story in 100 words but you managed well.
The imagery of the dearly woman and stranger paying respect is moving
Well done! Good luck in the club

Comforting words you wrote about a son and his mother. I have had relatives serve in the Vietnam War, so I like your story and it touches me to think that you helped a complete stranger find her son.

What a beautiful but sad story to read. A mother's love never ends. It paints a picture in my mind reading it. You did a great job with this flash fiction. Good luck in the contest. Shirley

Thank you, Shirley. I appreciate you taking the time to read my story. It was
a day that really touched my
heart, and my experience still
resonates with me. I think of
this wonderful elderly mother
often, especially around
Mother's Day. I hope you
have a great weekend. ~

Honoring those who sacrificed the ultimate is heart-stirring. Helping a mother find a son, worse. Doing it in one hundred words, challenging, I suppose. Nice job.

This well-written offering is a great short story. Just the sort I really enjoy. It leaves so much to the imagination and interpretation of the reader you can read it over and over, getting a totally different story according to your mood.

A moment of unity here even though it was in sadness there was comfort in both grieving for the same thing, loss of the young through war is such a terrible thing to mourn, a well written 100 words story that touched my heart, love Dolly x

Thank you, Dolly. This is why
war is so scarring. It robs
humanity of so many of a
young age, and leaves behind
the survivors who are physically, and/or mentally
broken. Many grieving
spouses, parents, siblings,
other relatives and friends.
There's no winners in war.
May you have a lovely spring
weekend. Blessings ~

You never know who you will meet around the corner, or any place. Sometimes you meet up with kin. God planned the meeting. Sometimes you see someone miles from your home, and you feel like you know them.
However, when we encounter robbers or thieves, it was the Devil's plan. And with the grace of God, things will not go bad. God has intervened in a few incidents of life and death for me.
Thank you for your post.

Hi Carolyn, thank you so
much for penning this review
to me. I really admire your
words of wisdom, so beautifully written. This was
a lovely encounter at the
Veterans Cemetery. I was
fortunate. However, because
of a not so great stranger
encounter I had a few months afterward, I no longer go to any cemeteries
alone. By the grace of God
I wasn't harmed. If you visit
any cemeteries, please don't
go alone. Blessings to you.

Thank you for the awareness.
