Fine-Tuning Your Kindle For PC
How to Get More From the Books You Read36 total reviews

I was presented with a Kindle a couple of months back, and I was not expecting to learn how to use it on this site. It's not just about bringing the Kindle itself, but the whole reading experience to the next level. I have never been more anxious to read in my life, Jay. Tremendous work to which I will be coming back. For now, I giggle like a little hyper-excited girl because I promised myself I'll finish this review before downloading Kindle for PC. I am off to a great new adventure, and I humbly thank you for sharing this extremely useful piece of advice.
Sidenote:
a) The part about being flexible - reading fiction as a learning experience - is on point. My mind was stuck thinking in terms of nonfiction = knowledge / fiction = entertainment for too long.
b) 1 week = 1 book: I currently have this goal on my Goodreads, and I can tell you now - never again. I chuckled reading this part due to how relatable your experience was.

Your review was pertinent and encouraging, Bruce. Much appreciated. I hope you find your Kindle on PC experience helpful and, if it's like mine, indispensable.

Wow, weee... Loads and loads to read and ponder.
I do not own a Kindle and have no real desire to own one.
I read when I can but that isn't often anymore. So busy with other things.
And, who doesn't just love Peggy Lee!!

There are so many people here who would love it if Fanstory had a paperback version. Digital literature is getting a bum rap, LOL.

Thank you for sharing this, my friend. I saved this for Jackson to read as I use an iPad Pro with a special mafnifier, voice text, and a voice reader attached. I can barely see a laptop.
You're so generous with your knowledge and expertise. Thanks again so much!

Hi Jay,
This would be quite helpful to anyone who'd make use of Kindle for PC. But as I explained in a previous review, I enjoy a book. I take great pride in my bookcase. It contains some dandies. I've got books by Edgar Allan Poe, Lewis Carroll, Robert Burns, Longfellow, Tennyson, Wordsworth, Bryant, Cowper, Browning, Montgomery, Cogswell, Silverstein, Sheree Fitch, David Goss, etc. There are books about UFOs, Christmas, Astronomy, Religion. I've got books by Mastery and Sally Law. I wish adewpearl (Brooke) had some of her poems published before she passed away. I'd love to have a book by Jay Squires in there, too!
I get as much enjoyment browsing in a used bookstore as I do in hunting for a special guitar and/or amplifier. I like old technology, unless it's a crashed saucer!
Cheers,
Kimbob

You're in good company here, Kimbob. If I were to put a number on it, I'd say that 65 percent of Fanstorians are paper-page readers. And that's fine. I'd certainly be honored to be on your bookshelf alongside the greats some day.

Hi Jay,
this is a good and informative piece of work, but kindle just never appeals to me. i like the feel of a real book - I also wouldn't use a kindle in the bath... lol
I have a lot of short stories published in digital magazines and I still can't bring myself to avail of kindle or other methods! I may be a relic.
No day off for my birthday No day off for Christmas. - feels like punctuation missing after birthday.
Yep, you need to be careful with reading (and writing goals). Always quality over quantity. i like to ruminate on what I've read. Sometimes just a phrase or paragraph from a book can set my own mind off and running. if you're hell-bent on numbers, you miss the content.
All the best

Thank you, G. Yes, you're in solid company here, with your love of paper pages. BTW, I know you're tired of hearing of it, but I'm expecting Amazon's delivery of Book 1 of the Trining on my doorstep any day. It is sad how long it takes them to send book products to the very people who pump in millions of dollars of revenue to their company. And then they charge us full shipping costs too boot!

This is a great reference article to download free Kindle. Many people are not internet savvy so giving steps in a simple way makes this exercise less challenging. Afterwards people will feel so inclined to reach out on the kindle and download books for their leisure.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Happy you enjoyed this, Jane (?) I'm probably the least savvy of all. I just kept playing around with it until I got it to work. Afterward, it was easy enough to write out the instructions.

I like your opening quote which compells the reader to do some thinking. You have to slake our curiosity. I have a few friends who do not have a kindle, so this might be helpful. This is excellent:
"(Keep in mind, the flashcards stay with the book you are reading, and do not migrate to other Kindle books. So I have to remember where I've docked my affirmations.)" Thank you

Thank you, Liz. So tell your friends and have them download their own KfPC.

Good for you for teaching us how to us Kindle. But I like to listen to audio books and I do a few of that every year. I have subscribe Audible, which is also owned by Amazon. Kindle can also read books to you. I haven't find the trick yet. Have you?
By the way I did get your book for free. Midnight arrives earlier here than CA.
Well done.

So glad you got my book, Lisa. I hope you find time in your busy schedule (and your travel that I'm SOOOO envious of) to read it. I have a hunch if you do, that when you get to the end of book one, you're going to want to have book two. That's what the "free" was all about.

It's an interesting read. I would never get a kindle though and you didn't convince me to. I don't think that is your main goal though. It's to get people who do want a kindle to learn how to use it. I think I don't read to feel smarter, but rather because I enjoy it. Just two differing reasons, I guess.

I read to enjoy, too, but I also don't feel I would be doing what I was called into this life to do if I didn't expand my potential to its fullest. That said, there is still tremendous importance in enjoyment, as well. So I hope we're closer to our reasoning than you believe.

First of all, Jay, I admire you for everything you're saying here. But I'm not into Kindle and never will be. I want a book in my hand and my walls bear witness to this. So I will admit, I skipped a lot of this article. But I'm sure it will be very useful to many. Ulla:)))

There are a lot of people like you, Ulla, God bless them all, who would much rather have FanStory in the paperback version. There's room for both: computer print and paper.
