This is beautifully written. Love truly knows no limits, does it? Grief and mourning persist, even when the rest of time seemingly marches on. You really show that here. Excellent work!

Beautiful poem. This poem really proves that new things can still be written, without the use of overly fanciful vocabulary, using simple rhymes and abab quatrains, and straightforward metaphors. You've also captured the raw universality of grief and loss. This is pure poetry at its peak.

This is very beautiful. Until the end I didn't know if her lover had left or passed, it could've gone either way.
You have a great rhyme format, and it feels like this was well thought out and planned as every line flowed effortlessly together. I can see why this was nominated for P.O.M.

This gave me chills! It's that good! The rhyming and flow are just perfect! Also, "Still" is best name for this poem. You talk about that life will STILL go on and also that you are STILL loved.
Absolutely six stars!

This is a well-crafted poem. I could feel the heart-felt sentiments throughout the poem. The message in your poem is clear. This is a beautifully written poem. Nice job.

Outstanding! Poignant theme, explored with overtones of intense emotion and delivered with masterful finesse in poetic musicality, especially the cadences read aloud. I particularly applaud this stanza:

The same old moon still shines at night,
But when you went, it changed my view.
I watch it glow, so far from light,
It feels the sun, as I feel you.

It gave me goose bumps!

And this one too:

The mountains, hills and I still stand;
I walk, but stay on shadowed streets
To mask the mark of time's sharp hand;
My heart's still broken, but it beats.

The rhymes are inventive, the phrasing phonics sound great read aloud, especially in the above stanza with the alliteraiton of M, S, B and consonance of L.

Every single stanza has much the praise.

I applaud the phonics in these lines and the unique voicing of 'river's run':

The sky is blue, just like before;
The river's run still meets the sea,

And these convey a potent AHA that strikes heart chords:

And waves still crash upon the shore,
Much like the grief you left in me.

Bravo. You've captured a TON in this poem.

Warmly,
rd

A beautifully poignant poem, Jessica of how everything stays the same though everything has changed after the loss of a loved one.
I'll live my days right to my last
A promise I too made and try to keep. Beautifully written and a lovely read.

This poem, Still, presented with six ABAB-rhymed quatrains, admits that even nine years does not fade the life, of which twenty-six years was granted. Happy belated birthday, Kiki.

I understand the longing and the yearning for what was once so alive and real in your world. Memories will have to sustain us until we join them. Nocely written. Karen

Jessica, it sounds like you lost someone very dear to you - I'm so sorry to hear that. You're right though, the world moves on without the ones we've lost, even though it feels as though it has stopped for us.

I like: I watch it glow, so far from light, it feels the sun, as I feel you. The moon is as far from the sun as you are from Kiki, but the sun still touches the moon, and Kiki still touches you.

A beautiful tribute poem, Jessica. I wish you peace.
