I have some owl pictures I could send you if you like. Owls always look so smart to me. Wise, statesmanlike. I haven't seen but a few in person. Always at night in the dark with glowing eyes and hoots. I am even steven with you now. Karen

Brenda, I was drawn to this, as I love storms and owls! This is a wonderful poem, with a concise beauty! What a fantastic image, too! It's a jewel, a sparkly jewel! Maddy

This is a lovely 3-5-3, evocatively conveying a sense of increasing noise and momentum as the storm approaches. I could really sense the eeriness of the night in those carefully selected descriptive lines. Well done and good luck! A strong contender! Debbie

This 5-7-5 poem fills the sense with the sounds of a coming storm. The howling winds, the screams of the barn owl, sending out a warning. A great presentation and I wish you good luck in the contest.
cheers

Very beautiful 3-5-3 poem. I really like the fact that it is very uncomplicated and not over stated. It presents this clean look that is so evident in nature many times.
Well written, and well presented.

this is a very good entry for the contest. I can hear the wind and the screech of the barn owl and know I should take cover. Great imagery to paint a poetic picture of a coming storm.
Good luck in the contest.

Native Americans believe the screech of an owl portends danger and perhaps death. The coming storm you describe in this 3-5-3 appears to be a fearful one with strong winds. Rod

This 3-5-3, Storm Coming, has the proper formatting and allows that the advancing foul weather will be announced to whomever is able to hear the warnings.

There is an issue with owls that I found out recently Barn owls are not waterproof. They are extremely lightweight and do not fly well in storms. I think it would be more accurate although less poetic to say Storm running away.
