Amusing story, Beth. Sounds like an odd-couple type of friendship with one being an adventurous, free spirit and the other being more grounded and introverted, but sometimes those make great friendships because each complements the other. Sounds like a bit of bad luck, but hey, it gave her something fun to write about!

Thank you Jim. Actually it is true story with the names changed. It happened me with my friend, Margaret. It wasn't the only time her ideas got me trouble. LOL

Beth, As I was reading this it made me think of the Smokey Mountains where we would vacation at times. They had water and rocks you could sit on there too. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Thank you Teri. That highway leads to the Smokies and is actually in the foothills. I fictionalized a true story. Vanessa is actually me. It happened just like it is writtern and I did lose my shoe and ruin my camera.

You always do dialogue well. I do remember this story. You're the "Vanessa" in this script and I hope your camera wasn't ruined! You are such a good sport and put up with a lot from that special friend!

As usual , you are the the only one who remembered the story from An afternoon with Margaret. My Cousin Jeanine, who was the inspiration for Phone Calls from Caroline died two days ago. Yesterday another good friend died. Jeanine would have been 95 July. Harold was already 95, Both had long lives. but I"m sad to lose them. My last Child, Connie celebrates a birthday tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to Connie! 💖🎵🎶🎉🍾
Of course, your stories are memorable so I'd remember them!
I'm sorry to hear about your losses. I can relate because we keep having friends going Home with some regularity now.

What an exciting outing, Beth. It sounds like these ladies often went on little adventures that would always turn out badly, one way or another. They both seem to take it in stride, though, and actually find a way to make a positive out of it.
Well written and engaging. Best of luck in the contest,
Rhonda

Heh heh,, I love the devil may care attitude of Peggy, I've met ladies like her, but they can and will get you into, but Vanessa is a good natured forgiving soul, and she was right, but Peggy knows how to have fun, they are good for one another, a nicely written script, not written often but written well, good job, blessings Roy

Tweddle Dumb and Tweddle Dumber is how it works most times. One talking the other into something they both know better than. I was always the one with too many ideas. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Well this story was based on me and and a friend. I might have been Tweddle Dumber to have gone along with her ideas and lost my shoe and wrecked my camera with water damage. Thanks of the review.

I figured it was you and a friend. But I figured you were the one talking her into something. LOL. That's why I wanted to tease you with my remark.

Very well done. I can see it happen.
I trout fished the White River in northern Arkansas quite a bit and if you were anywhere near the dam the water could rise that fast. But they sounded a horn first.
Good luck in the contest.

This was a departure from your usual writing, proving you are talented in many areas of writing. This was a good interplay with your characters and their personalities were well-developed for this short piece.

This is a nicely written screenplay, and I enjoyed very much listening to it. It moves along very well, and I could see the characters in the play as they were at the river. I wish you the very best with all of your writing and I wish you a very good day. Patricia.
