Your tale made me feel warm and fuzzy. The joy of the baby outweighs the pain of childbirth. I liked your line about meeting the one who had been kicking you nonstop. The imagery was nice when you spoke to him and his eyes fluttered. gayla

I was there for the birth of both my girls, our first born was amazing, I adore them both, but there's something about the first born that is so incredible, colour - pink, size - 19" weight, 6lbs 12oz, 10 toes, 10 fingers, oh yes, one never stops loving them, they are both mums and wives themselves, beautifully written Sam, blessings Roy

My "baby boy" will be 45 in September. As I read your wonderful true story I recalled that all of those feelings of searing pain were forgotten as soon as I saw his little face! Being a mom (as someone once said) is the hardest job we'll ever love!

Tiny edit in your author's notes: "Being a wonderful mother to by boy is the greatest feeling." (MY, not by)

Smile.

Nice job Mom!

You put the experience into words beautifully. No matter how hard we try to put it into writing though, there are no words to explain the feeling of holding your baby for the first time and becoming a mother. It starts with the counting of the fingers and toes and continues to standing over his crib and listening for his breathing. and then a lifetime of worries and joys. Being a mother is the BEST! Thanks for sharing. Good luck in the contest.

What a sweet and touching story. The miracle of life is wonderful! I love the description of a painful birth but it all being worth it to hold a new life in your arms. I am not a mother but the way you describe it makes it almost seem like I have been there.
