This is a wonderfully worded tribute to a pastor, Blake, and for the things that he did in the life that he led. I wish you the very best with all of your writing. May you have a wonderful new year and may God bless you richly with his goodness. Patricia

Sometimes those memories fill the need of his love without you really knowing it. Now that's a gift. This is a wonderfully written poem. Best of luck with your writing! Have a great day and Merry Christmas.

I enjoyed this. I wasn't sure I would when I started. Was Pastor Blake really a friend of yours? Or is this entirely fictional? It sounds like he was one of the good ones.

Actually, he's fictional but based rather strongly on a priest from my long past altar boy days. A really good man.

Such a superb read, and your descriptions of the Pastor and his actions paint their own picture, stern, friendly, and yet commanding attention for the spoken word, memories of such people do stay with us, very well written****kahpot

This is actually kind of based on a priest from my boyhood as an altar boy. He truly was a good man who still lives in my memory.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tribute to Pastor Blake with us. I can tell he's a person made a huge impact on peoples' lives.

What I'd give for five minutes, with my friend Pastor Blake. (friend, and in a couple of other places.)

Thank you for highlighting those errors, I think I've corrected them all. And I hope I'm not too late in wishing you a happy and holy Christmas. Got to go now and get ready for Church. All the best.

You're welcome. I'm going to the Christmas Eve candlelight service in a few hours. It's always one of my favorite services.

What a fine tribute, Bob, to a remarkable pastor, a man of God who died so tragically in the Battle of the Somme. You portray him very vividly but, as this is under the heading of general poetry, I'm still not sure if it's fact or fiction. That said, I applaud you for the lyrical way you engross the reader in his life and the enduring friendship you shared with him. Well done, my dear friend, and enjoy the holidays! Warm wishes Debbie

It's fiction from a man who has difficulty with getting facts right.

How young were you when Pastor Blake came to you? Nevermind. I Wikied it, and you weren't there. The Battle Somme took place over a century ago in France.

You're right Mr. Horonzy, at least not on this rotation. Don't you know GOOD ANGELS sometimes get a second journey.

CM,

This is a great story about Pastor Blake he seemed like a good guy all the way around. I guess you would expect that from a man preaching God's word.
I don't know if this is a typo or not:

Memories still raise smiles at (Pastor Jake's )good old ways.-(Pastor Blake's)-maybe?

Well done my friend

Cecilia

I changed the name from Jake to Blake and I missed one. Thanks for pointing that out. Thank you also for the review.

Nicely written. The literature makes me feel like I'm the writer and I know Pastor Blake very well. I know a man just like him. My grandfather Joe Hill. May he rest in peace was a great man.

Charline, I hope Pastor Blake comes across half as good as the man your grandfather obviously was. Thank you for such a nice reply.
