Yes it really had me in tears as I think of my own Mom now who is also not well. Our parents have been there for us through so much and it is hard to see it when they start to fail. I have so many wonderful glorious moments as I know you do too that keep them always so close in our heart. Your story is wonderfully written and I know your Mother is so very proud of you. My mother was 49 when she died and I was 8 - I even wrote a poem about surpassing the age she had lived to.
I have maybe three dozen pictures of my mother, and they have the same importance to me. What a poignant ending to your personal essay.

I think it is markedly more difficult for a daughter - she usually flounders and doesn't know who she is without the mirror our mothers usually hold up. Thank you for sharing this. Hi, Author, this is so touching. Can you believe it if I tell you I had the same thoughts when I was her age (when she died)? I had a particular syndrome and I went to the doctor immediately. Fortunately it was nothing. This is sad but very interesting.
