What a wonderful poem in a story, Kay, so well told. There were many heroes out there who put themselves in danger to go to the aid of others. Unfortunately, these stories are not told as much as they should be, our youngsters aren't told of these historic and very heroic stories. Good luck in the contest, my friend. xsx sandra

Those of a more recent generations do not remember the brutality of the Japanese during WWII. There were many is Singapore and Malaysa afterward as they were marched north to prison camps doing forced labor. Real heroes were many looking after chums. Vivian was lucky not to be martyred, but remains a living hero in your poetry until she recently passed away. Thank you for the story Aussie and your "talk."

One of the more moving poems I have read concerning WWII - Not knowing this story of loss of soldiers' lives, sacrifice and bravery made the poem so interesting! Worth many more stars.

This is an important poem about a hero that needs to be remembered. I always enjoy reading about women in war, history does not always acknowledge them. Well done here.

Very well written historic depiction of an occurrence during WW2. The Japanese were merciless during that era. You told the story well, kept the readers interest and provided a good rhyme scheme throughout.
Nicely done... John

Good use of the abab rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good perfect rhyming with men/fen...dead/lead. Good description and alliteration. Good storytelling. Good complimentary photo followed by a message that holds my attention from start to finish.

Bravery plus. Was that her real name? Bullwinkle? Over here, Bullwinkle is a moose cartoon. Amazing story about this woman and well said in poetic fashion, Aussie. Bob

This is so very well written and an extremely interesting story. It is an excellent entry for the story in a poem contest. You have written with vivid images and your rhyme scheme of abab is absolutely perfect. I think this will do well in the Story in a Poem contest. You tell us so much and never waiver in the rhyme. Good Luck. Regards Dorothy
