Hello Cedar I love your free verse poem especially the part about the roots
We remodeled and live there now,
at the place where my roots began
My heart is filled with happiness,
I feel the same way wen I left my home state of Vermont and my roots kept saying come home
Which I di and as you said found the happiness I was missing or so many years

Dear Cedar,
Poems about loved ones and family always seem to resonate better. Because your poem is about something in your life that was very important to you that fact comes over in your poem. A poem written from the heart.

Each quatrain sings of lifetime need's design
lays out with clarity the helpful clues
until evolving, fluid and benign,
into a song of silent, fulsome hues.
When digging from within to find what's real
The only goal to catch a moments joy
from restrained terms the wordsmith might repeal
When grasping 'round to find another ploy.
A search for truth and finding words of cheer
may leave no notion why the mood's so grand.
But feel the joy and know the place is dear
and rise to the occasion at your hand
This poet's search required no fine tooth comb.
The answer is 'there is no place like home.'

I enjoyed this poem, home is really where our roots are. I like best the following lines," Our home is full of life once more, and never again will it stand alone, that old saying is certainly true, there is no place like home. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bill
This is a very poignant piece. More so since it is true. It is a lovely home. You said it so true because there truly isn't anyplace like home.
I was born a country girl, Ohio. Though I've been out west for over forty years, the country is still in me! I miss it.
Well done, and thanks for a trip back to a wonderful time for me.
Cheers
Keep Smilin'... Jax

Thanks Jax for your nice comments, I appreciate your thoughts. I was born and raised on a farm in the bluegrass state of Kentucky. After high school, I joined the Air Force in the sixties, during Vietnam. I spent two years in that part of the world, then traveled for several more years and said enough is enough, I'm going home. This is where I settled. For me, there just isn't anything to compare with living in the country. Thanks again Jax. Have a great weekend and Happy Mothers Day. Bill

Thx for the nice wishes Bill. And thx for your years of service in the Air Force. My husband was in the AF. My son is a mineman in the Navy. In July he will celebrate 27 years! Makes me feel old as dirt! Cheers *

How lucky to have a home built by grandpa. Wished i had one too. Through the ages of wear and tear, one thing that will never change is the laughter and the tears shared within the confine of this home.
We did not think much of it when we were young. It was just a place to run around and play the time away.
But as we took flight and left this home, we have travelled far and wide but somehow we missed that home.
As we get older and finding nostalgia and memories had a place in our hearts, we need to relive those moments of joy and happiness again.
Moving back to this old place called home will allow us to travel back in a time machine to the good old days of sharing and togetherness and of intrinsic family values.
Great write and good luck.
Cheerio, best, Ritchie. :))

Such a lovely poem written about that special place you hold so near and dear to your heart, Cedar. You're absolutely right, there is no place on earth where we feel more at peace, more safe, than that place we call home.
A wonderful, touching write for the HOME contest, and I wish you the best of luck with it!

Good use of the abcb rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good perfect rhyming with me/be...be/me. Good proximate rhyming with alone/home. Good description and alliteration. Good complimentary photo followed by a clear message. Best of luck in the contest.
