The story goes that he first built the house after a forest fire, for an incredible view of Mt. McKinley (officially Denali now.)

That is certainly no cookie-cutter design. Imagine that ... he drew the plans out on cardboard. The views would be incredible and so great for watching the Northern Lights. Personally, I wouldn't want to climb that many stairs though. :)

I love the picture you chose. It reminds me of a totem pole or purple martin birdhouse.
You did a great job with the confines of the contest. Your story was fun to read, did show Dr. Seuss influence, has great flow from line to line/verse to verse, & correct syllable counts per line.

Hi Jan,
I've been offline pretty much all day and busy, busy today... on the go from 7am til 11 pm lol So, don't worry about being behind. I had cleared my inbox and am back to 38 messages behind again, by the time I wake up tomorrow I'm sure I'll be more than 50+ behind.
I just may be seeing that Lorax before the 30th at this rate! lol Thanks for the fun comments. With the four syllable lines, Seuss was the only one I could think to take after and make the piece work for a NaPo.

Well, it is kind of an attention getter lol I'm suggesting that he saw a moose and not the Lorax, but then again I'm in the third week of poetry mayhem lol Seuss was the only thing that made sense to me with four syllable lines. I'm glad that you enjoyed this one. I just couldn't resist the NaPo contest. :) Thanks for the fun review!

Hi Apostle Yannaras,
Dr. Seuss is probably the all time best children's author. He wrote what were often nonsensical rhymes and he books have been translated into multiple languages. I chose to feature him because of the four syllable lines in the NaPo contest rules. Thanks for the kind comments.
