Hey, Craig...

Just wanted to mention I read this poem and enjoyed it. I'm running a bit behind in my list of things to do. I thought the list aspect, fast and flighty nature of this poem encapsulated the meening of sheep eyes without the word needing to be well known. On one hand, you imply the joking nature of the poem, (perhaps with the wham-bam-thankyou maam, or being faced with having to compromise in a relationship leading to the relationship ending.)

I actually saw it as a fast forwarding through life and love... not as faced with compromise, but it being as inevitable as the last goodbye for a relationship once it's entered. Meaning... you meet someone, you have dreams of what it will be like, fall in love, you claim that love with both hands... you spend the rest of your life compromising, until the last breath. It's less amusing in that aspect, but maybe closer to home for those who fall in love and stick with it.

I think compromise is inevitable in any serious relationship, and it's not necessarily such a bad thing. Learning to find the middle ground is essential, since rarely do two people want exactly the same things or place equal importance on everything. But, as you point out, the poem was meant to be humorous, not a serious analysis of each aspect mentioned. Thanks for the kind and thoughtful review, Turtle :) Craig

Haha ... I've heard of having 'puppy-dog' dog eyes but this is the first I've seen "sheep-eyes". I like the image that "sheep-eyes' brings to mind better. :)
