Hey, Craig,
Read through this poem this morning, I like the myopic madness... with the m alliteration, the sounds jive in a way that sticks in the brain. The plummaging of forests highlights the word of the day to a T... just no sense of tomorrow or the end result of wallowing in scurge, or care for the effect it has on other organisms.

Hi Craig. Well composed and illustrated. It is madness. But what are we to do? One of yours and my passions is world overpopulation. As long as people continue to have more kids than 2, just replace yourselves, it will threaten our very existence. We may not see it, but our kids and great grandchildren most like will. Marilyn

Absolutely, Marilyn. Even with only two per couple, we'd still have an increasing population in the short term, as we're getting good at keeping people alive longer. I worry about a world I, hopefully, won't get to see. Many thanks, Craig
Comment from Gloria ....
Yep, that's quite a logging outfit they've got going on over there. A lot of logging goes on here too, the highways are filled with transport trucks heavy loads.
Excellent job with a heavy word too.

Thanks very much, Gloria. Here as well. At least the forestry here is managed these days. It still looks God-awful when you see hillsides denuded of trees, but they do manage it so they grow back, supposedly. (What the limits are to that, I don't know, and one hopes they leave enough habitat for the creatures that live there). Not so in the poorer parts of the world, which is where, unfortunately so many forest creatures live.

Craig, This is another very well written 5-7-5 poem. You always come up with really good new words for me and many I am sure. You illustrate them well in writing and the descriptive words for it. May God bless you and your family! Teri

Myopic madness concerning our shared planet
is a hot button for me. I'm guessing we'll be a disappearing
species before some troglodytes catch on.
Nice use of imprevision.
Peace, Lee

Your 5-7-5 poem and accompanying picture tell it like it is, Craig, and is a great way to showcase the word "imprevision" (a new word for this reader. I hope that I remember it and use it.)
Excellent alliteration with myopic madness. Yes, mankind is very nearsighted in many areas. It's sad but true. Well done, Craig! ~~ Connie

Lack of foresight or imprevision seems to be particularly prevalent these days as we continue to squander the natural resources of the world for mainly frivolous reasons. Logging of ancient trees, as your 5-7-5 highlights, is a prime example of it.

Thanks for reviewing, Tony. Logging of old-growth forests is insanity, for several reasons, as you note. Much appreciated - Craig

A very impressive and currently important poem and its subject.
When I see the picture you chose - very complementary to the theme of the poem - I thought of not only the damage being done to the trees but also to other life, including those of human beings who depend on this ecosystem. And the fact that those who own such natural timber are not the ones who get rich from it.
Well done.

A very well-written 5-7-5 it seems the only thing that makes human feel alive is when they can make a few dollars from nature disregarding how many small animals and insects are out of food and shelter.
