You do a great job of telling the story of Poor Joe. He is innocent, falsely accused. The judge likes to maintain his reputation for being touch on criminals. You have a great commentary about the prosecutor, who's mostly interested in successfully prosecuting his case. Your details about Joe's time in prison are touching. All he has are his memories of Christmas and other such occasions. When he dies, maybe he'll get some peace. This is a touching story, especially when we think of other "Joes" out there who might be wrongfully imprisoned. DNA testing has help clear up many such cases. Beautifully presented. judi

The difficult rhyme and meter of this form met well. Strong emotions displayed. Good story told. Ending would bring relief. Well done.

Wow! Virtual six, Yvonne. Sorry to come to your onegin stanza so late. I loved how perfectly your poem meets all the difficult rhyme and meter AND you told a moving story about a man unjustly serving a sentence and how he survived by remembering the good things in life.

A very well-written Onegin poem about Joe who was convicted for a crime he did not commit but after years he was finally released and rest now in peace with his Maker.

Wow.... now that was a very sad and depressing offering... a WHOLE LOTTA different from the cute turtle!! ;) :) Never heard of this form, Yvonne, but you've certainly wielded the heavy emotions with it ... great job! Yvette

Hi Yvonne, this is a fine poem and again a form i've never heard of. The story within the poem is great and really makes you wonder whether he was guilty. I liked it a lot. All best. Ulla:)))

Well, he wasn't, but could never clear his name. But he was free in a different way. Thanks, Ulla.

This was a nice poem refecting the torments of standing in a trial. I appreciate the background information you provided. This helps me to orientate my thoughts.

Hello Yvonne. I really like the story. One of the things in life I've always thought was so awful would be the false imprisonment of one for something he did not do. The best example I can think of is Christ was crucified for sins he never committed. Good poem. Robert

It would be awful! You're right about Christ. He took on our sins. Thanks for reviewing.

This work has reached the exceptional level

A thoughtfully done poem on what has to be a terribly taxing drain on the human spirit.

One who is condemned and has an unknown number years to reflect upon what may have been only achieves a relief from the mind's relentless turmoil upon their death.

An excellent little story poem in two Onegin stanzas. After you recent experiences in class you should be good at these.. I am impressed by the feminine rhymes, particularly those in your second stanza made up of two words. the was no feeling of forced stress here. Everything flowed well.

It is good to see forms taught in my classes being used outside the class assignments. Kind of makes it all worth while.
