Life as a lowly pilgrim, seeking truth, seeking love and compassion... all are worthy of the journey.
I love the imagery inside your lines.
Your font is difficult to read.
Well done.

There are some excellent lines and ideas in this. The philosophy is well presented. I especially like the first line and,

Only to bet your soul against the human unknown,

Which is a brilliant way to state it. The risk inherent is half the reward. Experience the other half.

There is such an important message here.....
Follow your heart.... Take a chance.....
Nothing comes without a risk...
But, a man who has the courage to follow his heart, has less regrets in the long run.......
What a powerful message! Bryan

Very good solid advice which sounds as though it comes from someone very experienced and confident in himself. You know, every time I read your poetry and see the tractor in your profile photo, I remember a nude photoshoot I did on a farm where I had to lie on my back on the giant wheel of a tractor. That's just a very random thought... I guess I lived a life of my own choice and had some of those experiences you recommended!

All the best,
Nadia

Deepwater. This is an exquisite piece of work. The poem comes from deep down in your heart. Very few are able to li ve life on their own terms. When i review I like to comment on the content which strikes a chord in my soul. Not grammatical mistakes, swag, etc. your poem does that to me. "And to be able to say I am my own best Friend".
Wonderful. gooloom

Great piece with powerful wording that are so concise and flow just as they should. Your poetry is always inspiring with a very good balance and great plot. This piece has impeccable wording is emotional and is very creative, while your words flow so creatively, making this a very good piece.

I had to move cross country to get over some of my stuff. You have to be willing enough to go through the pain, emotions, anger, etc to get to where you want to be. As you said in your poem you have to seek it out. It certainly doesn't just come and find you. It is also one the most horrifing things you can go through at the time but in the end it's all worth it.

Hi Deepwater,

Another good piece of advice. If one can't be your own best friend, there isn't much hope for finding valuable friendships elsewhere.

This is a poem that requires a bit of mulling over, I think. Initially it appears simple and plain, but has deeper elements.

Hi Deepwater,

I enjoyed reading your poem very much.
It was quite a thought provoking piece of poetry and it has many messages throughout it.
One thing that comes through loud and clear which is very important to all of us in our lives is that, "we are our own best friend"and we have to love ourselves before we can ever love someone else.

These lines that you have here say you have to experience all these things in life, but it doesn't mean that there has t be someone else.

If we have lived a life of our own choosing and are happy with the outcome, it doesn't matter if we were a successful doctor, lawyer or something academic., or we just became a clerk, or even just a milkman, so long as we did out best and we got happiness out of what we did that was the main thing.

Then we we reminiscence later down the track when we are older, we can feel proud of ourselves that we did the best we could and we are happy, we are our own best friend, even if there was no other person, at least we have ourselves to love.

To experience lust, love, anger, tears and pain

Only to survive to see another moonlit night alone,

Then will you be at peace with yourself

And to be able to say, I am my best friend,

As I look down the farthest side of my life with age,

I think the picture you chose is great also. I love horses, even though I don't ride them, I still love them. They are an awesome animal and can be very unpredictable, but nonetheless a beautiful animal. Well done, I am new to writing as well, so we can encourage each other. Beauty28

What a brief but flowing desciption of what I pioneer must of felt after growing old. To be glad to be able to life and believe and celebrate as he/she chose after leaving a land far away that wasn't free. It shows how lucky we are to be free to choose the way we live.

I see no errors.

Keep writing
