This is true. Old soldiers NEVER die. They will always be remembered and honoured for the duties they have performed for their country. Thank you for sharing this

Thank you for your timely reflections with our celebrating Memorial Day. (In line two, I think either a word is missing or it should be "lives.") With much appreciation to all of you for defending our homeland.

deepwater,
a well crafted poem that tributes the men and women who fight four our freedoms. Great art work and title 'Lest We Forget.' Excellent imagery, great narrative and very descriptive writing. I enjoyed the last lines the best:
Knowing we would go always a little further
Crossing heaven and earth to defend our home
You have a very talented pen. Profound poem in six lines. . .Melissa!

A beautiful tribute to all who have served, are serving and will serve in our armed forces. It doesn't go on and on, like a lot of poems in this genre tend to but is direct and to the point, good job:)

Soldiers are always ready to protect their country, family and homes. I can see your deep dedication to this in your words. It would be nice if there were ways to have our freedom without war but even in Biblical times they had to fight. Great poem. Keep them coming.

This is a bit different, but I like it. It is so true isn't it. I like this better than "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away"

Comment from Ponder
Hi Deepwater,
I pondered this poem until I remembered that this is your memorial weekend in the states. And bearing that in mind, I think this is a fitting and simply stated ode to the day and to those who are remembered. I also like the picture, very nice indeed.
