Wonderful interaction between Michael and Poppa--Cynthia is a piece of work--so glad Michael is going to throw her under the bus. Sugg: as regards Mary being "unconscious" all this time, after having collapsed from exhaustion --I don't think it would be ongoing.

It wasn't. She woke and spoke to Emmy and Hank. Emmy gave her sleeping pills the doctor had left. that's why she fell back to sleep.
I liked Michael and Poppa too. Cynthia has everything she gets and more coming to her.

I meant all the time before that.

But it's Poppa who has the real news! I hope he can relay everything to Hank and Garth quickly. I wonder why Mary needs so much sleep - she fainted and was already unconscious for...how long? And she probably needs some food.
I liked how you handled the exchange between Michael and Poppa and Cynthia.

She's older, frantic, and ran through the forest drenched in the rain; then, she walked over a mile to get to the ranch. Not to mention, she probably doesn't sleep well worrying about Faith all the time.
Yes, Poppa wouldn't betray his newfound friend. Michael chose the right side even if it meant turning on his aunt. She deserves it anyways.

I am happy that Michael told Poppa what he knew. That should help somewhat. I am not sure Michael should be left alone with Cynthia. If she suspects he talked, then she'll tell Mason. I love the story.
After receiving notification that Michael was returning to his room, (You can omit 'that')

Yes, we shall have to keep an eye on her, but Poppa reminded her he was right across the street. thanks for the review .... I think you are going to like the next chapter too!

Thankfully, they have succeeded in getting Michael to the hospital and Mary is now conscious. Her worries allayed about Faith and Michael, but still upset about Annie. The search for Annie is underway and Michael has revealed a good deal to Poppa. This should connect a few dots and perhaps help to find a lead towards the kidnapping. Great story Carol, you just keep on trucking.

I know Garth and his team are on it and Emmy is investigating as well.
Hopefully we get a break somewhere soon.

I'm so glad Michael has told Poppa what has been going on, now they know for sure that Cynthia is a rotten egg and that the fire and the kidnapping is down to her and Mason. Now Mary must meet Liz and see that her other daughter is fine. I can't wait for that chapter. This is such an amazing story, my clever friend! You are doing such a wonderful job, I'm loving this one. Sending love and hugs. Sandra xxxx

It's coming... I believe Mary will see Cassidy first, though, and then progress from there. Mary also has to learn about Jon. so much going on....LOL
I am beginning to think this story is better than the last one. I loved all of them, but this one has you guessing every second... I hope it isn't too much.
Thanks as always...I actually got to finish a review without getting kicked off. Hurrah!
Love you, my friend. Sending smiles and hugs, Carol

It is an exciting story. How you manage to think up the various plots and join them together is beyond me! Love you, too! :))

Thanks...it's probably beyond me too! LOL I surprise myself at times.

Well, Michael sure turned out to be much nicer than we expected. I like the idea of him forming a bond with Poppa. Pieces are starting to fall into place. So Cynthia's had an overnight as well. My, my. Good chapter, good writing.
The EMTs loaded Michael on the gurney and hoisted him out of the ravine. -- they probably would have taken him out on a backboard (strapped down and immobilized) and carried him to the ambulance, with gurney waiting. A gurney wouldn't work in the woods and ravine, based on my husband's lifetime service in rescue of one kind or another.
The operating room was Michael's destination. Michael needed a quick fix of the fibula in his calf. The more prominent bone, the tibia, was fine. The cast would ground him for a while, but he would deal with it. -- earlier you had him with his leg showing visible damage (can't remember your words, but I pictured it kind of flopping around) -- broken fibula wouldn't cause that -- might want to make earlier injury more painful than visible -- i'm not even sure the fibula could be broken enough to protrude without bigger damage -- maybe, but it seems a stretch -- again, based on experience, the fibula probably wouldn't require a cast, probably just a boot -- the tibia is a natural splint
Still weak and exhausted, she lifted -- suggest Mary lifted (antecedent is Emmy)

I knew you would know what the words were that I was looking for...My mind could picture him being carried and drawn up the side of the ravine by ropes, but it wouldn't tell me what it was.
I knew the fibula was the weakest bone but that's about all. My mom had plates and pins when she broke her leg...I thought the story was already overloaded without all that. I thought I said twisted like a pretzel beneath him, but that might conjure the vision of a bigger break too. My research said the fibula could come through the skin and would require a cast first and a boot a few weeks later. But who knows if what I read is correct.
I keep getting kicked off in the middle of things and then can't remember where I was or what was fixed and if it was saved. This is nuts! I'll hope I can adjust before I get kicked off again. I finished a whole page of reviews and then lost them while I was trying to save .
Joy! Joy!

I "guess twisted like a pretzel" sound like at least a broken knee. I suppose the fibula could come through the skin under the right circumstances. I just couldn't remember whether you had described it tat way. Sounds like you didn't, but the pretzel seems a bit much for just a fibula.
Blistering heat and humidity again today. I can't even think. Cool down starts tomorrow!

The rain left and we are suppose to hit a heat index in the 100s. I hope not. I haven't been able to go back and read the chapter yet, but soon I hope. Pulling weeds but have to stop every so often...too hot
