Your post is delightful and your advice, if not totally ingenious, is certainly creative and thought provoking. I especially like the "gremlin" tip. If it doesn't work out, you can always douse it with water or feed it. I noticed one possible typo: "...beat out of me for that kind of them (thing)." I enjoyed this.

4 - Identity Theft - This is one of my favorites. I will sit in a restaurant or anywhere, really, and people watch. I can ususally come up with an idea for a new novel. Then I will write out the characters. Often, they are a combination of people who I've watched. Then it takes on a life of it's own. Thank you for sharing these with us.

This article, You Need This, touches on the idea of ideas to touch upon. Yes, a bowling ball at the Little Big Horn or free rectal exams at Bingo Night might prime the new ideas.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help with the Crap, Poop, balls, and swill. I loved the piece and will keep it in mind if I get stuck again. I do have to ask about a term I've not heard before. What is purple prose? Have a great day. Shirley

Purple prose is a style of writing characterized by overly flowery purple prose - language that tends to draw attention to itself, and away from the story being told. Its typical features include excessive adjectives, exaggerated metaphors, multisyllabic words, long sentences, and elaborate descriptions of a character?s inner thoughts and feelings. Or simply over-writing! lol many thanks, Shirley. G

Thanks for telling me about purple prose. It sounds like something I don't want to do!!!

I enjoyed reading your very clever and creative ideas for searching for inspiration. It is funny, interesting and with some good advice.
Instead of money for this advice, how about a six-star?
Well done
best wishes,
Mary

I enjoyed reading your fun filled ideas for searching for inspiration to take the kinks out of writers block or writing boring crap. There may be some gems of wisdom in here. I'm a little curious about that gremlin. You didn't exactly show us what one looks like unless it is that picture you chose. I'm wondering if the havoc he might cause would be worth the clean-up.

You are dear friend wise for your years, even though i know not your age. Might be thirty, sixty or ninety, but your tips for recovering from writer's block is evidence you know what you write about and it's appreciated.

You have given me so many ideas I'd not thought of before. The library, going to the non fiction part, that is such a good idea. The other thing I came up with from that little gem is in the front pages of the news papers. There is such a lot of unbelievable stuff we could steal from. I mean it's all fiction, isn't it? Pictures, that's another great idea. I'll add this post to my Gareth file. You are so good at helping others get over their blocks.
Well done!! Sandra xx

I wouldn't have to (go) begging for money

I must be excessively dense this morning, but I am having problems working out how these interjections will help my pallid attempts at writing. I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun, but I'm afraid the results will come out like a jumbled up plate of spaghetti-bolognaise (lurid and pretty indigestible). It'll all be a bit like the stories I wrote when I was in hospital, I'm sure. kay
