Happy New Year, my friend! Great to see you writing. I loved your poem of the seafaring man in contemplative thought. I think deeply, it's something I have always done. I'm especially drawn to it at night and by the sea.
Beautifully written and illustrated poem. .
Sending you my best today as always.

Thank you Sal. I took a sabbatical from writing and had a new knee put in.
Comment from Julie Helms
Your words are evocative and effective. I felt like I was floating down the river between the rivers in the deep blue indigo with you. The last half, with the mention of the presence of God, almost felt like a near death experience, except In the indigo darkness not the bright light! Really beautiful imagery and strong emotion shines through. Thanks for sharing! Julie.

Goodness, JLR!
I had no choice be to give you a six. This piece is far from the rewards of an extra star.
"Dazzling Darkness" is written with passion and a flare that can only be described as internally and externally elegant.
The notes did help with the opening lines. Best, JohnC

Good choice for the great revelation for the almighty: "Bringing me to my knees in adoration,
understanding that I am at one with God,
awash in the sea of dark indigo darkness." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings and the contest.

Comment from Sanku
the endless darkness during the past midnight hours and occasional flashes of mild light takes you through a spiritual experience that is unique The realisation that there is a power above and we are nothing before him is humbling
You have very powerfully expressed that communion with well chosen words..All the best for the contest.

The moon is a ghostly galleon, washed upon stormy seas. So says the poet. Every night I sit in my wheelchair, watch the heavens and see God. How wonderful is our God who created heaven and earth? In the stillness of night, peace, no sounds, all are sleeping; I speak to our Master of the Universe. Well done! K xx

I am glad that what would seem a problem with insomnia turned to be a spiritual realization of the closeness of God and feeling a oneness with all His beautiful creation. Good to see you back!

My friend, thank you. I have missed being at the desk, to write. The total knee replacement three weeks ago went off without a hitch. Now I focus on PT to get range of motion back.
-
Great that you got the knee replacement done! Hope your recovery is quick and smooth! 💖🙏

-Very good artwork and presentation.
-Thanks for the notes.
-A well written poem with effective
imagery and repeating phrase.
-You do a good job capturing this scene.
-I can picture you sitting, trying to write
very early in the morning, feeling you are
"awash in a sea of deep indigo darkness."
-I like the reference to the canvas awash in indigo.
-A very good transition as you seem to hear a faint whisper,
and then you find the true meaning behind his whole experience.
-A very good entry; good luck!!
