Hello Lea,
I'm glad you intervened for Mrs. D. She may not have appreciated it right away, but if you didn't do something, she might well have ended up dead. It's hard to fathom that you're out in the world again without much support. Whatever happened to the friendly fellow from the church group? Perhaps he could offer a life line. I'm glad you got a chance to visit the mountains. I hope you can find a residence there soon.
Have a blessed evening gal.

This chapter is very emotional and makes me sad. It moves along well and I wonder where she would go with only a $5 bill. It will be quite hard journey but she has to leave that hell of home.
Well done.

I'm out of sixes, but this definitely would have received one if I hadn't been so impetuous. This was extremely excellent. Exciting beyond belief! So. Very. VIVID!!

It's just hard to imagine the desperation you must have felt at this point in time. Here you are, bruised, exhausted, starving, alone, not knowing where you'd be sleeping that night, and it's raining. How much worse can things possibly get for you? At least you are out of danger for the moment since you bravely faced that maniac and escaped his clutches.
That was a wonderful thing you did for Mrs. D. by calling for an ambulance. Hopefully she will finally come to her senses, take her children with her, and leave that lunatic for good.
I loved your poem at the beginning and can see the appeal of the mountains for you. What a great contrast to the evil you have found in the world of man. - Jim
