Ahhhh for SPRINGTIME! My favorite season. And we once lived on a hill where the wind was almost constant. And only warm up next to the buildings in cold weather. I love rabbits and your photo is awesome! But the cadence in this is what I loved the most. Easy flow and to enjoy. :) Suse

Hi Suse, That sounds like it a tough place to sit and be - not somewhere you could sit and write poetry outside!
Thanks so much for your lovely comments - I tend to find cadence is the most important thing for me in a poem as it helps to carry your story.
Best wishes

This is a beautiful poem you have written about seeing the rabbit and
relating him to the last of winter. The rhyming is perfect and flows well.
You have lovely choice of words all the way through the poem.
I especially like...his presence only transient, glimpse of winter's frost, and vernal gown. I could go on. Your poem was a delight to read.

Oh I'm sure he will find his spring. What a delightful poem this was about the mountain hare. Such a beautiful and elusive animal. It's a wonderful entry for the contest. All the best of luck. Ulla:)))

This is a beautifully written poem about this majestic creature. I can see him as king of the moor. Your vivid use of words take the reader out into nature. "A ghost of winter's snowstorm" is a perfect line to describe the hare as he surveys his domain. Excellent use of words and poetic form with a light feel and flow to them.

Your poem placed me in the mood for spring. Love what spring brings to the land. The smell of fresh dirt, the chirping of various birds, Yes. I am ready. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Hi Ben, yes I?m ready for the spring too, although often the winter has a sting in the tail here. All those things are so beautiful and so much more lovely after a harsh season. Thanks so much for your review and for sharing your thoughts. Best wishes

Welcome to FanStory, Caroline!
How very much I appreciate your exceptionally well-crafted poetic offering.
Now I have visited England a number of times, as our son-in-law is from Tilston - outside of Chester. But I've never visited the moors = Bucket List!
How I would love to do so and come upon a mountain hair - in any season.
I so enjoyed your rhythmic celebration of this delightful creature and the imagery it invoked.
Best Wishes!

Hi Diane, thanks so much for your amazing review - and for the precious green star! Chester is a lovely place and not very far away - just over an hour?s drive from our wild but welcoming moors. I?m glad they are on your bucket list! The hares really are magical and so incongruous when dressed in white when there is no snow!
Thanks so much for this fabulous message and very warm welcome.
With best wishes

Your free verse poem is a delight. I love the rabbit metaphor for winter. The picture captured a lovely image of the jack-rabbit in the field. Good lick in the contest,

What a great Milestone post, Caroline!
I enjoyed the metaphoric coming and going of the frost with the beautiful hair. Or, perhaps, a comparison to the spring ahead.
I loved this first post. I wish you much success here. This community has a great group of peeps! I'm looking forward to your next.

Sorry, my auto-correct changed hare to hair! It changed the entire meaning of the review as there is no beautiful HAIR in your poem! hahaha. Nice to have you aboard, Caroline!
