well, when I say you were lucky, I should probably amend that to say you were blessed in that Jeff turned around, AND came back years later to apologize for what he put yall through. That is so neat. And although college used to be an opportunity for learning various necessary and beneficial things in life, In Jeff's field, (and in some, it still is) he was probably smart to follow the path he did - and became very successful. I can, however, commiserate with his dad's attitude over Jeff's first marriage and the drugs, forgoing his opportunities.

What a wonderful story, it gives hope to those of us that have offspring, and beyond that, our grandchildren, grandparents still have an integral role, in loving, supporting, praying and remaining as a pillar to God's goodness, beautifully written Barbara, blessings Roy

I sounds like you did a lo of running around for Jeff until he sorted himself out and I am so glad that he eventually found someone he could set up a good life with. Congratulations on becoming a Great Grandma Barbara. I bet your son is quite proud of you. I enjoyed your honest and open story, love Dolly x x x

Hello Barbara,
I suspect that any family with more than one child has a wild child to deal with. We've had several. You're right, after they come of age, there is little that we can do to set them right. At a recent family reunion, one of my daughters who had a real issue with booze looked like death warmed over. I truly thought it would be the last time we ever saw her. We didn't have an intervention, but I think each of the family members individually let her know of our concern for her. We also encouraged her wimpy husband to get off his butt and make her go to a doctor whether she wanted to or not. She's been off the booze for seven months now and sounds like a whole new person. You're right, prayer helps. We don't get to control the outcome, but it opens a door for God to act I believe. Thanks for sharing this.
Have a blessed day.

I will pray for your daughter. Jeff actually came back years later and apologized for everything he put us through.
